• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Importing 2010 WR125 From Canada To The USA Without EPA Sticker

Michael Botkin

Husqvarna
AA Class
Long story short, my wife and I moving back to the USA after being in Canada for a year and while here, I purchased a used 2010 WR125. I'm being told that I'm unable to import the bike into the USA because the bike does not have the US EPA emissions sticker. Is there anyway I can get one of these or am I going to be forced to sell the bike before we leave?

Thanks,
Michael

That'd be great if we were moving with a moving truck, but only have one car and a open utility trailer, good idea though ;)

Called Husqvarna NA and they are really no help, said I would have to go through a registered importer. Are these stickers VIN specific? Does someone have a picture of theirs from a 2010 so I can see an example? Thanks!

Where are you moving and what is your intended use of the bike?

If you are moving to California and intend to ride it on public lands it will probably be easiest to just buy a used frame with papers.
If you are planning to spend your time on private property you will be fine as is.
If you are moving to another state contact their DMV and ask.

We're moving to Colorado and for a off road only bike, all I need to do is send a $25 payment, they do not require emissions/inspection. I just need that sticker so I can get across the border which is something I never thought of being a problem, until now of course.

Michael. It is very difficult to import a non-epa conforming bike into the US unless you are a registered importer with the EPA. You will be able to sell the WR in Canada and replace it in the US for less money anyhow.

Not what I wanted to hear Scotty as I really love the bike, but thanks anyway. I thought the US/CAN versions were identical? Maybe Rob has some customers that's looking for one.

I might be interested in it. Send me an email with the deets. srocher at stratfordhomes dot ca

Really?
About a year ago my cousin in Buffalo bought a used RMZ450 in Welland, tossed it in the bed of his truck & drove home. No questions asked at the crossing.

When you are moving into the US I think you might get asked some questions about what you are bringing with you.

Well I am a US Citizen, I've only been visiting my wife's family here, I guess it's a toss up as I do have the bill of sale, but it will be on a trailer with Ontario plates so there is no telling.

Just tell them your going to race in the states.

Just a follow up to this, we had zero problems at the border and they never even looked at the bike or the letter I received from Husqvarna, also didn't even have to pay a fee and they gave me all the signed import papers. Thanks for all the feedback regardless ;)
