  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

ims 2.9 gal tank for 2010 250's

Steam

Husqvarna
B Class
i pre-ordered an ims tank back in early june, have checked from time to time on progress. today was told the racers have 'em, next tuesday the carb model will arrive at ims and ship out, and the following tuesday the fi models will arrive at ims and ship.

at 60 miles and bone dry with the 1.7 gal stock tank, 2.9 will give me 100 miles... that's workable.

what model 250 do you have? what are your settings if you have the FI version,no way can I get 60 miles from the stock tank,I wouldnt have a need for the large tank if mine got your mileage

2010 te250. we get far out from home... 60 miles doesn't cut it without a gas drop. the bike has not been re-flashed yet. i'll be interested to see what that does to the mileage.

here's the settings per dan at motoxotica:
regarding the mapping we did to your bike,
setting #1 is 102.5,
setting #2 is 101,
setting # 3 is 101.
we also have set the TPS and I set the idle speed at about 1850 rpms.

I got about 55 miles out of my 2010 TXC per tank trail riding. The CO1 setting will make all the difference in fuel mileage.

what sprocket combo, kelly? i'm running 13-52, looking forward to trying a 12 tooth countershaft.

13-52 but most the riding was 1-3rd gear tighter stuff. Setting CO1 to 96 made my particular bike run good and get great mileage.

i saw you've re-flashed... does that setting apply to post re-flash only? dan at motoxotica believes the re-flash will make the bike run so i won't need the 12 tooth... i'm anxious to find out.

My TE250 is a changed bike with the reflash. I run 103 100 102 and it runs real good now.

I got 46 miles out of a tank Sat in the woods.

Was that 46 miles to dry tank or low light? Did you get those kind of miles prior to the reflash? I did a test on mine last week and the low fuel light is coming on about 2/3's of useful fuel level. I did 48 miles to low light and 75 to empty (mixed riding) - no reflash yet. (fmf q4 - 100,100,100, stock gearing)

Seems to big a pretty wide range of mileage results across the same model. 45 miles v's 75 miles is a massive difference even allowing for weight, terrain and riding style.

on 2.2 gallons of gas i got 40 miles to empty(dry) on some single track, I just got this bike and my first ride was today, How do can you see what your settings are for the flash, The PO of the bike told me it has the newest flash. Looks like this IMS tank will be a soon to be mod.

I suspect I probably should clarify my 46-75 mile range. Typically I would get around 40ish miles, but I happened to be at elevation and had the o2 sensor connected which yielded those miles. The point was more that my low light came on about 2/3's of useful fuel in the tank and wanted to see if "R_Little's" mileage was to low light or to dry.

Different bike but it is the pilot. A class racer friend on a 08 TXC450 gets 22-28 MPG at race speed. He has a plate for it and we did a little DS the other day and he got 45 MPG and 92 miles until dry. I could not believe it.

Now that it is Tuesday are these tanks in stock and ready to ship from somewhere?

i gave ims a call to follow up...

the carb model tanks have been coming in, but not in the quanities to complete the pre-orders for that model.

the efi model uses a portion of the same mold, so the efi tanks will prolly not ship until the carb tank pre-orders are completed. perhaps 2 weeks for the efi tank.

I called IMS also. They said they are shipping out pre orders now. It sounded like it could be at least a week before they get through their pro orders. Kelly said that Halls si shipping them also.

Now I am wondering where I should get one? Halls wants full list for them but I don't mind paying it for one now. If it is going to be a wait I might as well use justgastanks as they are cheaper.

Darkside - I don't think IMS has been doing the "2 more weeks" BS. That is Clark.

EDIT - I just called Halls and got one. Can't wait to put it on.

i just got off the phone with hall's... they have the carb model tank, not the efi... yet.

Correct.

Can't get a straight answer out of Clarkes and they seem like they don't care. Offered to haul bikes over etc.
