  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

ims 2.9 gal tank for 2010 250's

Did they re-do the 08 TE 250 etc. tanks to include the inserts? The original ones had everyone hacking their plastic up and gluing it.

based on these photos from hall's web site, the new tanks have inserts. i think you're asking about improved tanks for the '08's?

post #21 is asking about 08 tanks the new IMS is for the 2010 and up bikes and 09 WR125 and up.

just installed mine (same as the 2010 EFI 250) and it is very nice. I do not think these will fit the 08 bikes.

Does anyone make a similar tank for the 2010 TE 450. ( 3 gal or so with inserts for stock plastic and does not require hacking up the rad shrouds etc.)

I ordered the Husky Special Parts larger tank from my dealer but when it came in it was an IMS tank that required all sorts plastic trimming and loosing the stock plastic. So I decided to pass on that tank and look for something else. Dealer was sure it would work with the stock plastic when they ordered it.

Cant wait for a full report on both tanks. Please post when you have run a tank of gas through. Give us your thoughts on quality, ease of fit, increased range, difference in the cockpit feel (space), does it make the bike feel heavier or toppy etc.

If this tank works for the TE250/310 is there any chance it will work on the TE450 or is that a no go? 2.8gal would still be way better than the stock 1.9gal.

P.S. Looks really sharp on your bike Kelly.

As mentioned a bunch of times, it will not fit a 2010 or older TE/TC/TXC 450/510. It will fit any 2010 TE/TC/TXC 250, 2011 TE 310 and 2009/2010/2011 WR 125/144/150.

I just ordered a tank for my te250. Does anyone have any idea if this install will take any special tools or any other special info on installing the pump and such?

Thanks
Doug

Should be real EZ. Swap the EFI pump plate out and bolt it on.

go here for a thread on the install: http://www.cafehusky.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13897

last saturday i went 97 miles, and no reserve light. it was a good mixture of pavement, fire road, and singletrack. i was worried because my calculations said 102 miles to bone dry. when i filled up the pump read 2 gallons went in. there were several inches of fuel left, much more than i expected. i need to carry extra fuel, go out and run it dry, see if the reserve light comes on, how many miles to empty, etc.
