• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Is Jimmy Lewis (Dirt Rider) really that uninformed?

The June issue of Dirt Rider has an article called "Learn-To-Ride-Day" that groups the Husky TE250 in with the CRF230, 230L and TT-R230.

It makes mention of their shorter seat height and that "The suspension is great for learning but isn't comparable to competition bikes, and it can't be easily upgraded."

If I had read this (and not done my homework) before buying my TE, I probably would've passed.

If I was trying to sell Huskies, I'd be pissed after reading this.

Am I nuts, or is the corked up TE250 really that anemic?

Very strange. I rode one of the 2012 TE250s (and also a 2007 model with the regular suspension) and thought that there was nothing else in it's size class (Yamaha WR250, KLX250) that could even touch it when comparing weight, power and suspension.:excuseme:

They simply do not seem to care to get it right. Read all sorts of crap like 5 speed when it has 6 etc. Still the red headed stepchild of the bike biz for some reason. Lots of years of bad blood and issue are hard to get over it seems.

Dirt Rider and Dirt Bike both need to change their names to KTM Rider and Dirty KTM. Dike Bike hasn't been the same after Super Hunky left. I guess I just dated myself.

Husky may be better off if they did not get any press from DR or DB

I didn't receive this months copy, subscription must be over finally.

Really? Even if it's inaccurate and sways ones purchasing decision

No I just like to repeat useless crap i have heard over the years :D But really in some cases yes. I still run into people all the time that say "husky still makes bikes" so exposure at almost any level would be good.

I just wanted to stir it up a little. I think you are right, the exposure alone is what they need. Not the inaccurate crap that DR & DB say.

I hate hearing "Husky still makes bikes?"

Dude, I get, "BMW makes motorcycles?" ALL the time. They've made them since 1923. BEFORE they made cars!

Yeah, I know Husky has made them since 1903, but it irks me that people think BMW NEVER made motorcycles.

I really don't like that people are assuming, and reporting in magazines, that since it has a plate that it's heavy, cheaply sprung and a piece of junk for dirt bike use. A TE250 is easily twice the bike a CRF230 is! You don't see anyone winning World Enduros on a :censored: CRF230....

If this jimmy lewis has an email address ...maybe he should be questioned on the subject as it appears he is an imposter ..

No, you don't see CRF230 being written in world class events ... There is a guy over here who has a fairly new one ...Suspension is like a marshmallow and it will pull up most hills in 1st gear .. Nice little soft bike for what it does, but it can't even get a sniff of my husky ...

I really can't believe you would put a new rider on a Husky .. lol ... But it is PUB and someone will read it ... And it does put the bike along side the hondo bike ...

Dirt bike mag has started to give husky relatively good press lately on the TE 310, TXC 310 and even the TC 449. Dirt rider on the other hand seems in another world.....

It's all about the money. KTM uses theirs to promote like crazy. That's all we see here, orange orange orange.

So maybe the report isn't totally straight, but really, I want to know how the machine runs after about half a season and more. That's what I want to know. How long will the machine I'm buying last, and how much is it going to cost to keep it going. Reminds me of my Raptor days. Worked great for a week, then everything broke, but you didn't see that in the magazines.

10 years ago they the mags bragged only on the jap bikes and KTM got no respect. Then one day Jimmy Lewis decided KTM's were cool and the flood gate opened. Husqvarna is starting to get a little respect in the magazines now.

Kind of like the "long term test" they do in some of the mags. "Long term" is 3500 miles on a street legal bike. I did that in the first 3 months.

Not sure why everyones upset about the te250 being called a good bike for a beginner.. its seat height inspires confidence which is the most important thing for a beginner.. It's also the lowest seat height of all the husky's so if you were to look at the line up and pick one out for a beginner.. it'd be the te250.. I'm confused about it not being easily upgraded though.. i guess you can't make a small bike taller very easily
