• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Is there anything sacred left in this world ?

This rant will probably be more of interest to the Norcal members or anyone who may have had the
opportunity to ride at Georgetown, specifically trail #1 with the little creek crossing. I went up there yesterday (Wed) for a little afternoon romp (have had the entire week off burning vaca time)
and I had heard about the new bridge but haven't actually seen it til now. I just don't see the point. I mean the water crossing wasn't anything major or too difficult but it was kind of fun.
I'm sure it was quite a bit of work and money to put in a bridge there but I don't see the point.
Probably some endangered frog or bird or flower, "they'll say", inhabited that area so they built the
bridge to protect it. Not a huge deal but seems to me like a waste of money. Here's a clip from before the bridge...

Rant over. :D

It is called a riparian area (as creekbeds and other similar gullies are called). They close them down all over the place, not just in NorCal.

Interesting you should mention fogs because most all of us that are off road riders, MXers, DSers etc are being slowly boiled like the poor classic frog that wouldn't get out of the slowly heated pan of water before he/she was dead.
Rant over-

Total waste of money but if they didn't waste it on that they would find something equally stupid to waste it on. SAD!

Of course, rolling through my mind wasn't the bridge but that your thumper sounded good! Looked like you needed a lower 1st.
