    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Just Had My Suspension Lowered

Man what a diffrence. I have heard a lot about how bad this is. I have ridden lowered bikes before, and I partially agree with some of the bad.

On my bike bike, a '08 TE-610, it feels great. I took it out last night for a good ol thrashing to see how the work turned out. While I did loose some ground clearance, I can now touch the ground where I could not before, the bike is more solid in the trail hack (tree roots, rocks, etc.) and the rear end is not so loosey goosey. And best of all, the front end does not wash out anymore :applause:

While this is not a sponsored deal, I am 100% happy with the results so I felt like I should post it up. Here is what was done. Don't ask me how he did it, because I do not know, but the stock rear linkage is still there and the forks are only 3 mm up the in the upper clamp.

- Lowered the front 1 1/2"
- Revalved the front
- Did something with the rebound on the front
- Lowered the rear about 1 1/4" or so
- Adjusted the sag and leveled the bike

I realize that there are suspension sponsors here, but I went to Cliff because he has done all of my bikes except for one. That bike went to a guy that had a big head and was his way or no way.

So if you are looking for a local guy, he is in Shingle Springs, Ca. His shop is RPS or Racers Pit Stop. I can say that Cliff has the Marsochi/Sachs thing down. I know I am going to get beat for this, but he is a Beta dealer and I do belive that he has done some of thier factory bikes.

Needless to say, I still do not have the external compression adjusters on the forks and its dialed in right where I like it. O I forgot, the high speed twitchyness is gone as well. Man, did I try everything to get rid of that.

All of this was done with the stock springs. Mind you, I am what you would call big boned. The weight of me geared up and the bike topped off on the scale was 573 pounds :eek: I dont know my ablities. I smoked a B rider and got smoked by a C rider. So figure that one out:lol:

Next on the list is a set of AC10's and a 14 tooth countershaft sprocket and ditch the 15x 43 single track gearing :thumbsup:
 
It is fine and dandy to talk about other shops besides the one that is sponsoring Cafe Husky (Drew Smith / WER suspension)...

But I'm not sure people in the future will think to look for general recommendations for suspension shops in the Cafe Diner, so I'll move it over to the common topics area.
