• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I Hope you get this on time, My Family and I made an unannounced trip to Manila(Philippines) unfortunately we were mugged at the park of the hotel we are staying, all cash, credit card and phones were stolen off us but luckily we still have our passports with us.

I have been to the Embassy and the Police here but their response was too casual, the bad news is our flight will be leaving very soon but we are having problems settling the hotel bills and the hotel manager won't let us leave until we settle the bills, I will need your help/LOAN financially I promise to make the refund once we get back home, you are my last resort and hope, Please let me know if i can count on you and i need you to keep checking your email because it's the only way i can reach you.

Regards,
Kenneth.

My friend received a similar email from my mothers email account just a few days ago. It said she was in cypress and her handbag and passport were stolen and needs come help. Turns out her gmail was hacked. Best idea is to delete the account altogether instead of just changing your password incase they have a keytracker.

I generally ignore anything with a G Mail account. I had to much spam from those accounts while using CL to sell a bike.

For the record, there is a huge difference between having an email account 'hacked' and an email address 'spoofed'.

A 'spoof' is when an email is received with what appears to be a certain email address, but is not.

Figure out how to 'View full headers' in your email client, that should help reveal who/what sent the email you are receiving...

Of course, it is best never to click on any links in an email unless you are 100% certain of the situation.

Good info. I was making the point that a similar email can come from a known sender.

Guys, and Gals, I'm really sorry about this, but I am NOT in Manila. I know how they hacked my email, but I am too embarrassed to explain. Needless to say it won't happen again. I just wasn't paying enough attention to what I was doing and screwed up. Now I pay.......

I hope EVERYONE is super careful about getting any type of emails what-so-ever no matter who they appear to be from if they have links in them.

Regardless of who sent an email to you, unless there is other verbiage indicating the person who sent you the link was the owner of the account - DO NOT click on the link.

ESPECIALLY if an email was sent to several people all at once.

I just got 3 emails sent to 3 of my email accounts, from a Cafe Husky Sponsor, and they were all spam.

If you want to investigate the link further simply do a quick web search for the link that was sent to you and add the word 'spam' to the search - but do not visit the site itself.
