  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Kick stand cutiing down...

Chas Madison

Husqvarna
A Class
Howdy, I just lowered my 2012 te511 down 3" with kit from race tech. the kick stand needs to be either cut 3" and the pad welded on or can I get a kick stand from another husky that is that short already and I can just bolt on???
btw, race tech new exactly what I needed and had it to me in days!

don't have an answer for you on the kickstand but what did Race Tech do for you, revalved shock, fork? 3' is considerably more than i want mine lowered, is the cost flat rate or by the amount lowered?
thanks

I called race tech, talked to "Lou" we went over the bike, year, model etc. then he asked type of riding, % of on off road, my weight, and then how much I wanted it lowered, they custom make the springs, fork and rear shock, proper spacers needed to make front and rear work together based on my riding style, my weight. I did make a valve change based on what they recommended . I will have it put together by the weekend, cant wait. Lou can raise or lower anything out there. cost in my case was $375 for all the parts

Ultimately they will be taking 3 inches out of your suspension travel, back to 9 inches. I guess if will work depending on your offroad needs. Please put up a follow up post and photos at some time.

My riding style and skill level and my age are all factors I took into account, I am 55 yrs old, riding all my life and will not be taking on any serious off road challenges, I will post the before and after soon!

I had my 449 lowered 2" for about the same price. Bike was just to tall, or I was just to short. I still hammer the trails, bike rides great for me and I can touch the ground.

an inch and i would be very pleased. there is a trail here in Austin that is pretty technical with a lot of 3 and 4ft step up ledges. I have cleared it once on my daughters crf230 and on mountain (bicycles). I want to be able to do it on a full bred enduro machine. Although i will say that i have seen more than one adult win single track technical races on a crf230. Some will even go as far as saying that the crf is very competitive in that arena. Of course if i was really good i wouldn't have to touch down with my feet at all, ever :(
