  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

kickstand hits boot when I stand

AA Class
Anybody have this problem? When I stand on the pegs, my kickstand is right where my left boot heel (inside) wants to be. No such problem with my right heel. It makes me have to toe-in my left foot. It's very evident when standing on the pegs and I'm surprised I haven't heard anybody mention/complain about it. Maybe I just missed it. Any easy cure? 2013 te310R.

Yes, I have that problem too. It was really distracting. I kept hitting it with my boot and pushing it down. I removed it, the only real solution I could see. Not having it on around here isn't a big deal, there is always a tree to lean the bike against.

I have noticed it on my WR, only since I zip tied it to the sub frame, because it kept floppin' around with all the whoops at China Hat a few years ago.
It has obviously been bent, because it hits the inner side of the number plate. Pissed me off left a groove in a brand new plate. May yank it off as well, just like rschneider says there are plenty of trees to lean it against. The only time i miss it, is at home, getting it outside onto a stand to wash

It's the hard way, but I built my own stand for my 310. At my age and my height, I need the stand to be able to mount using the foot peg. I still need to do some tweaking on the pivot point as the angle when up isn't quite right and the stand sticks out a bit far when up. No issue touching it with my foot though. I will probably have to weld on an extension at the pivot plate to get the right twist.

I think it mainly happens when I stand on the balls of my feet. My size 13 Santiago boots have a fairly wide heel and they end up a long ways aft of the foot pegs. Combine that with toed-out feet where my heels want to be close to each other and you've got a problem.

Thanks for the replies. Where I ride, there aren't always trees or boulders to lean my bike against. I still marvel at that strange kickstand. Is it forged or cast? Can't weigh any less than a steel one can it?

Italian form over function I'm afraid. Nice to look at, but rubbish on the trail.
Not had an issue with the left foot on it.

On my last inspection I saw that the stand had broken at the base of the yoke (at the back) - it's currently being welded up.
Only having short trails here, the stand gets used a lot, and anything other than perfect smooth and level means a lot of messing about to get the bike to stay upright.

My old Honda CRF stand was good - agricultural to look at, but very effective!
