• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

i got it in the mail last week and finally got about 30minutes ridetime with it yesterday morning. i had heard they can be uncomfortable, i cant comment on the other braces they make but this one is not too bad at all, after about 5 minutes i really didnt know it was on. i give it 2 thumbs up for comfort. thankfully i havent had to give it a stress test and dont really plan on doing that intentionally lol ill keep posted on anything that may come up with it.

What does a neck bracket to do to save you? Does it limit the motion your neck can move in a crash?

yes in a nutshell....not sure about other brands but i figure they all work on the same concept. from what i understand is you wreck your helmet will hit the neck brace shelf around your neck/shoulder aread and the stress gets distributed through your body and not your neck (keeps your neck from gettin compressed or over extended a certain direction)

This is about the only protective piece I don't wear ... I always tell my self when riding to remember to NOT duck my head in a crash, to avoid the compression or over-extending forward injury ... This might can work in a lower speeds crashes but the high-speed, out of control crashes are another case ...

You picking up speed on your track or just trying to be safer overall in riding?

I like my Leatt and wear it all the time, and now I love it since I changed helmets. Went from a Thor Quadrant to a Suomy. The Suomy is physically smaller than the Thor and allows a bit more freedom of movement. Also just went to the Leatt chest protector and it's fantastic, allows either over or under the jersey.

I keep thinking about one of thoes things. Ya never think you need it with woods riding/ racing I suppose until you "needed" it....

I'd wear one if I had it ... maybe not 100% of the time ...But anytime I know speed would be required, I'd put it on.

A steering stabilizer is what I'd like ... My bike does not really deflect at lower speeds but on some of the HS (30-40MPH) roads I ride, the bike does kick around and bounce off alot of the rocks and ruts here ... I still put alot of effort on taking a good lines, reduce risk as much as possible on the choices I make, and still hold back off the edge ... Eyesight is one problem that is coming along with my age ...

i seen they had a newer version out so i haggled with a guy on ebay and got it shipped for $275 wich isnt bad from what i seen. you can get the adventure cheaper but from what i understand it doesnt have adjsutments on it, thats the only reason i went with the club 2.

ive never rode a bike with a stabilizer on it to see how it compares

Never used one either but the HS crashes are what I'm wanting to avoid ...

Any updates on this? Do you still wear it all the time? Im seriously in the market now as my old worn out body cant take a neck injury. Plusses and minuses over the Alpine Stars? :oldman:

yup, put it on everytime. i like it, i dont have any experiance with any of the other brands though so i dont know much of the hits and misses. works for me though. im in the same boat, i look like robocop with all the stuff on me when i ride but got to be able to halfway function come monday morning to make the $$ lol

eh not really,if i really try to bend my head over for one reason or another i notice it. just got to remember you cant move your head as far when on the trail. i ate a number of branches in the begining but im gettin used to my range of motion, like gotta move the whole upper body down a lil not just your head. it sounds worse that it really is i think. as far as ridin open trail or motocross type stuff i really cant hardly tell its there at all.

Has Leatt changed their design to better prevent collar bone fractures? I know the Omega is supposed to have fixed this design issue.
