  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi, I have an 09 450 TE, and recently fitted a Zeta Pivot clutch lever, however, when I tried starting it it wouldn,t turn over as it wasn't pushing in the clutch switch,( pulling in the clutch lever to start), has any one also had this problem and if so can you just short out the switch or are there suitable aftermarket levers that do operate the clutch switch, thanks for the help.

I just removed the switch and completed the connection on the 06 510 to bypass the switch.

+1 on my 08 TXC450 after removing the switch and wire harness the deal is simple just plug the wires together its set up with ball socket disconnects. It simply bypasses the circuit loop to the switch. One less thing to worry about failing. I all ready have the habit of pulling in the clutch before starting anyway.

So just joining the two cables together bypasses the switch? it doesn't do any thing else, no battery drain? Is it ok to do this.

yank it!

it's a "lawyer" circuit. just like the one on the kicstand.

bye-bye! *kaplunk* in the can.

feels good when ya stick to the man, dont it?

on the 09 te450 cant you just pull the micro switch out of the lever clamp and zip tie it to the bars? ive had mine come out after a spill and i just let it hang for the rest of the ride and i didnt have to pull in the clutch till i put the switch back in the right spot. that way you dont have to cut out the switch less work and it shouldn't be an eye sore or be in the way

Thats what I did when I first discovered the new lever didn,t push in the switch, remove the switch but had to push in the switch to complete the circuit every time to start the bike, needed a third hand to hold in clutch( in gear, stuck in a load of mud), push in switch and press starter button.
Have now recrimped both cables into one conector, put it back on the switch, bypassing it, so able to use after market levers, still keeping every thing fitted.
