• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Lied to and screwed over by dealer advertiser on here!!

AA Class
I bought an 09 TXC 450 demo model from an advertiser on here. I was told bike had less than 10 hours on it and was used as a Demo bike. I have bought 2 other Huskies from dealer. I received bike and there was blue RTV silicone all over valve cover. I called dealer and they assured me bike was good to go and had no idea why valve cover was off. This was early June. Kinda committed at this time so I take dealers word it's good to go. Anywho...I received bike and immediately started tearing bike down for a complete prep for Vegas to Reno. Bike was never ran other than when I first got bike for a few minutes. Motor was never opened or touched by me. Bike was ridden for a few minutes up and down my street before being loaded Tuesday to head to Vegas for a shakedown today. Team takes bike outside of Vegas to test and 12 miles into shakedown bike quits and has zero compression. WTF! A lot of money, time and effort is wasted!! I am so pissed right now!! There is no way a Husky motor with less than 10 hours on it will break!! I'm thinking something was wrong with bike before being sold at auction to dealer. There are no dealers in Vegas so we are fucked!! Bike cranks over, has spark and gas. If you take plug out there is no compression when you put finger over spark plug hole. Plug shows its running a little rich. I should have bought a Honda! I doubt dealer will do anything. I'll call tomorrow and see what they say. I'm probably screwed and out the $3700 I paid or bike after shipping. Have another 1k in ZipTy suspension work and other parts. Not o mention race fees, hotel, gas, time off work etc.... I am so pissed right now!

Sorry to hear of your problems. I find the motorcycle business a tough one. If you want a dirt bike you end up with a contact person who goes to rent the track and go road racing. If you want a street bike you end up dealing with someone who races motox. A friend of mine once made a comment about not trusting bike shop employees for anything beyond air in tires. Were you dealing with the same contact person on this deal as the prior two?

Perhaps a clarification is in order as to this auction business. Did the dealer buy this unit at auction as is and then sell it to you. Ten hours could be 5 hare scrambles. If it really has zero compression what does that mean a valve is open or a hole in the piston?

Hopefully your team has multiple bike and riders so it wasn't as much of a waste as it seems. Using a 2009 model, spending that on suspention, entry fee travel and the rest in a team effort in this year 2013 while may well be true seems a bit out of the ordinary to me.

Bike was a factory demo that dealer picked up. It was sold as a new bike from factory to me. The reason I bought bike is because of the claimed clean barely ridden demo bike. I did not buy a 3 year old beat up bike that we expected to last 500 miles. I informed dealer of the blue RTV silicone all over top of engine. It was a major concern. Dealer said it had a 30 day warranty. I explained bike won't be ridden till August. I should have went with gut feeling and rejected bike. As far as what's wrong with motor....don't know yet. But I've owned 2 other TXCs that were raced hard with over 100 hours on them and never even adjusted a valve. So I thought this was a no brained with described bike.

Since the valve cover was taken off , did you check the decompressor?
We did yesterday. Bike ran awesome before it broke. Started instantly. Jetting was spot on and with 15/47 gearing bike was an animal. Everyone was stoked!!

We got another bike and it's on it's way from Colorado right now.
