• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Looking for help identifying a '78 Husqvarna 250 CR/OR?

Hi guys/gals, I am new to the site, but not new to the Husqvarna brand. I have owned multiple Husky's since my first that I bought new back in 1982...... I have reached my mid-life crisis and have decided to go vintage racing with my most recent husky purchase. I don't know much about the pre-'82 models and am on a learning curve, the bike was advertised as a '78 CR250, but the engine number (2066 1219) and frame number (MM02005) seem to indicate that it is a '79? It has a metal chrome/red tank (in need of repair), the '79 style air filter side cover, but has the non-remote shocks....also the left side cover sticker reads 250 OR which appears to be original, in fact, the entire bike appears to be all original with the factory throttle, levers, even the bars are straight and original. What do I have here?
Thanks for any input.

What you probably have is a very late 78 250OR, as the motor # indicates. There's 2 reasons why you have a 79 frame, is some swapped it out, or
more likely, Husky ran out of 1978 frames & they had 1979 's available. Husky was a small company so they built what they had on stock, no one
cared when it was sold new, but it sometimes has owners scratching there heads 30+ years later.

My thoughts exactly, I will probably update to the reservoir rear shocks and turn it into a true '79 model...
Thanks for the input.

78-79 had the same prefix 2065 for CR motor ML would be 78 Frame MM 79 .I have seen some 79 autos with the ML frames and some with the MM frames also. I think the OR frame had the extra tube on the bottom.
