• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

A Class
I recently traded some Ham Radio equipment for a 75 CR360. Let me start by saying that in the 90's I was really into the vintage scene racing my restored DKW 125. I had lot's of fun but kids came along so I stopped(I kept the bikes). My older boy wanted to start racing desert so we got back into modern bikes. I wasn't really interested in doing any more restores but this Husky came along. The good news is that I had enough spares collected over the years to fix the thing up for about $300 total! The motor was in good shape but needed crank seals so i split the cases and resealed everything up. I want to make it an Evo racer so it was rattle can paint restoration. I am almost done with it an will post a pic when complete. how many of you go this route or go with the museum quality work? Great website!

I think I am closer to what you describe than most. I think sending the shocks out for a seal head kit install was about $200 and a new x ring chain was about $100 so I am a bigger spender than you. I don't do rattle cans very much it would either be a little brush or have some place that has a booth and knows how to use the chemicals. You can even have the best of both spray the rattle can into the cap and use a little brush here and there.

I am trying to make very presentable riders so that whatever doesn't sell when finished I will have something fun to ride. I am painting tanks and side panels with Delton with clear over decals. The frames will be painted with a single stage(not base/clearcoat) for durabilaty and minimum film thickness

I guess I fall into the budget racer category, I enjoy finding the part and getting a deal whare possible. I think alot comes down to time and money. Luckely we are all different and I dont think any of us judge the other. Whether your bike cost £100 or £5000 I think we all have the same feeling and big smile on our face on race day.

I do the stripping, media blasting, and painting so the cost for me is primarily materials and replacement for parts that are missing or not feasable to repair. My cost for a completed bike is about $1800 including average $300 cost of subject project. Only labor I pay for is cylinder boring because of lack of suitable machine at the moment. I have a modestly equipped workshop with 6hp industrial air compressor, media blast cabinet, portable media blaster for larger(frames) objects, HVLP spray equipment, Hydraulic 20ton press, small lathe with metric threading, metal cutting band saw, mig & tig welders, and a nice size workshop to start with. When I put that much time, money, and love into a project, to me it needs to look like it is worth everything thing it cost
