• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Magura Hyd Clutch on 84 500?

83lookin84500

Husqvarna
C Class
Is it possible to put a Magura Hyd Clutch on a 84 500? If so, is there anything (special fabrication) needed? Anyone tried this sucessfully?

lf its the stock disc brake of the later 1986 + Huskys its a Brembo brake.

You would need to fix a mount for the caliper on to the lower part of the forks, yours are marked K1.

You would need K2s, (1986 onwards) to mount the disc setup, lm pretty sure you cannot swap just the lowers

Maybe easier to get a later set of forks, however if they need rebuilding (the K2s) there seems to be a current shortage of bushings for them.

He said Hydro CLUTCH not brake.

Call Fran at Bottones Jo Bet Husky. He has done Maguras for CLUTCH on manual Husky clutches. He has one on his own bike too.

those babies need a hydro clutch....good thing they had ton of power and torque cause it takes a mule to pull the clutch

A hydraulic clutch is all about mechanical advantage. Other than a slight cable drag, you can accomplish any leverage change on a Husky by lengthening the clutch arm 1/2" to 3/4". If you want the self adjusting feature because you slip the clutch a lot, go with the hydraulic.

Extend the clutch actuator lever or use a front brake actuator(longer), no hydro or mule needed.
Someone on evilbay sells trick looking billet extended clutch actuator arms , around $25 i think.

man up!! eat your vitamins, and pull that lever lol..MSR easy pull, lenthen the arm an inch, and use the white painted clutch springs,,,easy cheasy.

The stock 86-87 are same as longer trick husky products ones. Also have an up-bend in them to reduce cable drag from cable mount end near left side of cylinder base.

Yep. the 86-87 is 1/4 inch longer and up swept.

At 1/4" longer you will get a little relief. Or use a front brake actuator of any husky DLS brake/ It will add just over 1/2" to your existing arm (others may work) and you will get the up swept advantage and over 1/2" longer leverage. This will give you a 2 finger clutch (if every thing else in the sys is working as it should) take care with any longer and up swept actuator that it doesn't foul on the bottom of the bigger carbed bikes.............or yer dial a jet:banghead:

Alot of the pull seems to be basket related (excluding spring difference) the older alloy baskets seem to be much harder to pull than the later steel ones, perhaps this is drag related, or they ware faster?

I have the '88 actuator arm on my WR430 with a brand new cable properly routed and the clutch pull is terribly difficult. My clutch basket also has 6 springs instead of 5. Where can one find these "white" clutch basket springs? I looked into machining the inside of the right side case to accept a hydraulic piston for the Magura clutch. The clutch shaft bearing is right up against the side of the case though so there is no room to play. I believe the external cable actuated Magura setup might hit the expansion chamber as there is very little clearance for the piston assembly where the cable attaches to the left side case. I am very interested to see if there is a solution to this problem.

yellow..hard, blue, medium, white easy...
when i part bikes out, i look for them.. have no idea were you can find them.
the MSR leaver with the easy pull cam makes things easy as well.
i add an inch to the arm, by cutting another lever, or a cheap wrench, and weld it in place with a good welder.....
