• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Man (and ladies) do I love this site!!!

I can't say enough how much of a joy it is to check out Cafe Husky on an almost daily basis. I've been on some other sites and the bashing, name calling and generally bad vibe I get from them tends to lower my opinion of homo sapiens as a whole.
Sure, there have been some disagreements/irrational posts on CH on a few occasions but rarely do they get out of hand. When they do get out of hand, the problem is promptly "nipped in the bud".
For the most part all I see here is people helping people, sharing knowledge and experience and even when in disagreement, debating as mature, intelligent people should.

Thanks to Coffee, Admins. and all of you Husky lovers (and sometimes haters) for giving me something worthwhile to look at as I'm shirking all of my other duties.

Peace,
Tim

Nice words... Pretty spot on also and great attitude on display here ... Keep riding and if you ever make over to my island, I've got a Husky you can ride in the mountains of Cebu providence.

I completely agree, I can't stand the bashing, name calling or I'm going to put your brand of bike down to make me feel good about mine attitudes on other sites. Good job guys.

I like this place a lot too. Even if I don't post in a thread, I try and read as much as I can. I learned a lot about my bike before and after I bought it by reading what members have to say about it. Information learned from riders who ride the type of bike I ride is priceless. To be honest about it, I most likely would not have bought my bike last year had it not been for this site. I was not in the mood to plunk down my hard earned money on a bike I had no idea about. I can't thank my friends here enough for sharing what they know about these bikes.I also like that our admins let people speak their minds and allow for disagreements but reel in threads when they get out of hand.

I'd love to take you up on that! I've only been to Manila and just like Jakarta it's no place to meet the "Real" people.

"I most likely would not have bought my bike last year had it not been for this site".

Funny you say that. I'm exactly the opposite. I found this site a day after buying my x-lite and was immediately terrified I'd made the wrong choice. EFI issues, starter issues, fuel pump problems were all I saw on my first browse.
I've had exactly zero problems with my bike other than bad bearings in the linkage but that was a simple fix. Absolutely love my husky!
The threads on valve adjustments/checks and being able to find a workshop manual have been a godsend. I'm not someone who lets other people work on my bikes. Try getting that info out of a dealer, it'd be like pulling teeth.

It's not uncommon to get the wrong idea about how durable a bike might be when browseing forums. Often a particlular model might have had a few glitchs vs. all their attributes but most of the time people will come to a forum looking for help rather than to express their enthusiasm so the perception sometimes gets a bit skewed.
That being said I'm glad that you are enjoying you're bike and thanks for the compliments about our litlle community.
