  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Marzocchi closes: supply to homes only while stocks last

The historic Italian company is on the verge of out of business, and disposed of the stocks, no longer provide the forks to the Houses that are fitted as standard on motorcycles and scooters. 120 jobs in smoke to the decision of the American Tenneco, owner of the mark from Bologna, to get out of Zola Predosa The manager of Tenneco, American multinational which since 2008 has owned the Marzocchi brand, they decided: closes the factory in Bologna's historic Italian brand of suspension, born in 1949. The story goes back to the end of March, but now comes the confirmation that, after a meeting with unions April 14, there are glimmers of light or ability to close the question in another way. We know that the houses that take the Italian forks as original equipment (TM, GasGas, Beta and Portuguese AJP, including those that make offroad bikes, road bikes, but there are many - such as the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce or Ducati Hypermotard -, scooters - like the BMW C 600 Sport and C 650 GT -, mountain biking ...) received a note that states that no longer provide Marzocchi suspension, presumably after the exhaustion of stocks (click here for a review of some of the bikes that come standard with the Marzocchi).

IN CRISIS FROM 2011
For the 120 persons currently employed in Zola Predosa (BO) there is good news and the efforts that the union has done by the end of 2011, when the American group had announced for the first time its intention to close the factory in Bologna, have had only partial effects, which have not changed the substance of things. Indeed, 50 of the 170 employees in force in 2011 have already lost their jobs and the only thing that had managed to get were generic guarantees to postpone any further decision in mid-2015, in addition to the entry into force of the extraordinary layoff up in September of this year (with the possibility of early retirement for those who wanted it), after a first use of the solidarity contract with reduction of work by 35%.

TENNECO: "ENOUGH FORKS"
The reasons for the closure, according to a statement by management, are to be sought primarily in the market crisis, which has "suggested" to Tenneco to exit the industry forks Since the last meeting between management and unions is not in fact the will to relocate production, but not to seek solutions to keep alight the flame of hope. As said, in September 2015 expires the extraordinary layoff and Tenneco did not renew the lease of the plant: is really very little time, that's why Fiom ask the opening of crisis talks (called "safeguard") by the metropolitan city.
