• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey guys,

I have a temporary blue plate and am about to get my 07 TE 450 safetied next week. I have a great mechanic who will provide this service for me....question...can I put a "bike bell" on to pass for an "audible notification device" a.k.a....HORN. Also, the rear brake light is engaging with the front brake but the rear is not hooked up. Should that be suffice as I've heard that signal lights aren't even needed ie, hand signals can be used for signaling including stopping?

PM me your experiences...just want to get this last piece of the equation DONE and start my snow melting dance ASAP. Thanks in advance

After putting more thought into this question....decision made....Just equip the bike with a proper horn to potentially warn some motorist that I am in their vicinity....and same goes with rear brake light switch....Just have it installed and then when I do get pulled over, and I antipate this will happen A LOT until the local cops identify that this is street legit (paper work to prove it)...I'll have every ounce of prevention covered ;)

My 07 TE250 has the working horn and brake lights but no turn signals.

Does yours have the thumb button for one? That would make installation plug and play.

Maybe ask your mechanic if a bike bell is legally adequate. I don't think it would be functionally adequate at road speed. Your exhaust would likely be louder.

I have a thumb button for one. Mechanic will install one for me. Agree re alternative would not be functional...gonna make it legit OEM style ;) Thanks guys and Dame

I understand the bicycle bell would be technically legit as bicycles as well as horses fall under the hywy traffic act, that said, no fun answering to the law on the side of the road. And I've never witnessed a horse with a horn or bell for that matter. Wonder what the Mennonites do on that?
