• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Mix and matching parts.......

Was wondering if any parts interchange between, let's say, a 1979 250 CR and a 1981 430 XC? I am assuming that parts like chain rollers, brake peddles, footpegs and the like should work on eather model. Any thoughts?

Been looking over some Husky parts sites and I think I can answer my own question. It appears that a fair amount of parts will switch up. Sweet! That works for me as I have a 79 250 CR sitting on the shed that I can use for parts.

Can't wait till Friday when I get to bring home my new (to me) XC. Expect more stupid questions soon. Till then I will be reading every thread on this site to do with Left Kickers......

If you take the engine from the earlier one complete with that stufff which mounts to the frame and swingarm at the rear you can put that in the later frame. I put a 78 360 six speed into a 81 420 auto frame so I expect likewise for the two you list. I make new aluminum front mount plates anyway. I think I used a wr 430 pipe but don't recall as I have a 500 engine in there now. Notice that squashed portion of the frame on the silver framed one near the left footpeg. The kick starter hit the kick stand bracket but the kickstarter was lengthened not sure if timming is necessary with the stock lever.
