• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

MOAB Trip in 2013 need help

Hey sorry in advance for all the questions but I am planning on a late March trip to MOAB with my sons. One will be 14 so he does not have a driver's license. I know about the skills test etc. which he has completed. My question is do you need a plated dirt bike to ride there? I have seen many references to must be street legal and the bikes will be except he is not old enough to drive. I am taking our RV so accommodations are not an issue. Can we camp and ride out for the day without having plated bikes? Can we stay at a couple of trailheads and get all the riding in we need in a few days? We will be there around March 20th staying for a week. I know it will be crisp mornings but the weather should be okay.If anyone has trails they recommend please let me know. This will be the first time for all of us out there on dirt bikes. We will be on two Husky WR300’s and a WR125.

Thanks

Rod

You don't need to be plated to ride the trails in Moab, but you would need to be plated to ride through the town itself. I highly recommend the Latitude 40 maps, get both of them. Don't leave without riding Soverign Trail and Slickrock. You can camp/unload at trail heads that will get you onto a few trails at a time without having to illegally ride roads, so you should be fine with an unplated bike if you do that. Feel free to shoot me a PM with any other questions. Brad.

Hey thanks for the info and I already looked at the Kelly's pix and that was what fired me up to get i tplanned for next year. I am looking at the trails you two sent me and planning it out now. Thanks very much and I will get in touch with you as time gets closer to head that way.
