  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Modifying long range tank to suit

C Class
Hi all,

I have a 2011 TE511 and wish to add range so looking for bigger tanks, being in Perth, Australia there aren't many options out there that aren't going to cost the best part of $800 minimum for new tank. However there is a local guy with a tank from a TE610 to suit 1995-2000. My question is if its worth considering buying this and trying to modify?

Thoughts anyone?

I put the IMS on my 2012. The weight is quite noticable when full but once down to about 1/2 you can ride it like you stole it again.
Makes it a little more difficult to get at the air box as you have to remove the tank but the provided quick connect hoses keep you from having to unclamp/reclamp.
During initial testing I found a few spots where the hoses were rubbing so I split some old rad hose and wraped the fuel line in any questionable areas to prevent an incident on the trail.
I have also been very impressed with how tough this thing is. I've dumped it a few times and everything has stayed put.

All in all a great product. The upgraded seat that came with it (got mine from ZipTy) was worth the purchase price on its own.

Nomad also makes a strap on rig for the rear which seems to work great as well. Just depends on how much extra fuel you are looking for...

The IMS tank is bespoke and the Seat Concepts seat easily makes the cost worth it.
I tried Safari tanks in Aus too but they did not make tanks for the italian huskies.
With an additional 11 liters smartly balanced between the two axles my 449 is good for 250 to 300km before refueling depending on how I ride.
I purchased mine directly from IMS and it was a lot less than $800 and included free shipping anywhere in the US.
