• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ive just started looking over my new to me bike. The faults below are as it as delivered from the dealer. Im just looking for ideas am i just wining about nothing your input please.

Both front and rear calipers seized pistons and sliders.

Rear suspension linkage seized.

Fuel pipe from tank to carb split in two places.

Rear disc worn out of servce limits.

Rear wheel rim damaged (big bulge and flat spot)

Clutch cover leaking transmission fluid when engine is warm from front of cover.

Gear lever twisted into clutch cover.

Clutch lever perch cracked.

And the bike was filthy.

The bike has come with 12 months dmv inspection or has in the uk with new mot.
Bearing in mind the bike had been in there work shop and checked over.
I will be speaking to the dealer in the morning im just looking for your thoughts and ideas.

What year? how much did it cost?
Bring it back, get your money back and find a better bike.Sounds like it was abused, who knows what condition the inside(top end, clutch, bearings) is.This bike in the long run will likely cost you more than finding a more expensive well maintained/cared one.
Good luck

Its an 07 wr 250 i paid 2K for it,i was being assured that it was in good condition and would be ready to go. Yesterday i had started on stripping and rebuilding the calipers because i had the parts in stock, so this was finished today. As for the rear linkage being seized, i was lucky in the fact that i had everything stock from my last husky. all the bearings where red rusty and the bushings were severely pitted, and the same goes for the bottom shock bush. To say im a little dissapointed is a understatement.

I spoke to the stealer today he's not interested in anything, it looks like im left on my own with this one. Customer service must be a thing of the past be cuase i get that bitter sweet sickly feeling of being done over. So it looks like i'm going to need the help of the guys here when i get stuck.

Most of the things you listed are pretty minor and are very common wearing items. I take pretty good care of my bike but if you ride in the slop these things will fail from time to time. When I buy a used or new bike I take it apart and re-pack bearings and replace what's bad, I also clean up things like caliper pins and put anti seize on pins and pivots that need it and lock tight on fasteners. If you ride it it's going to fail but it will give you comfort to know that it's good to go. Invest in some good waterproof marine grease, a tube of anti-seize, some dielectric gel for the electric connectors and the plug boot and get after it.

Nothing like the power of the net. I would post up the dealers name so that no one else has an experience like yours. It will get back to them!

Im not sure yet if i want to put the name of the dealer on the net, i did speak to them today and he asked what he would need to do to make me happy.
so hopefully things will work out fingers crossed.

I really have to ask this....Did you buy the bike unseen ??? I would be doing jumping jacks on the moon before I'd buy a bike before I inspected it through and through....
