• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Have you tried beating on it? I'm not kidding. The heating is just one part of the removal process. It needs some heavy vibration with heat glowing heat in order to rattle the tight fit loose. A real oxy/acet torch is way better than a little coleman torch. The oxy set-ups can get the whole hub glowing. Ive had stuff heated up, while the puller is on it and super tight, and I'm gently whacking the hub to break it all free. Whacking on the hub of the flywheel in strategic spots and such helps some times. Just want to make sure it's not excessive enough to damage the crank. If you're creative you can also use a harmonic dampner pulley to get some of them off, which adds leverage in some cases. Best of luck though.

..I've "pried" on the end of the flywheel while operating an air chisel with a punch top anvil as well as rigging a jaw type puller to fit into the center area of the flywheel...normally I wouldn't attempt putting a puller there but the flywheel casing there is very thick..I only used the Coleman type torch first then used a mapp gas secondly...I drilled a centering hole in the tightening bolt so I could apply the air chisel gun on it again...wouldn't budge and the jaws popped out after 2-3 minutes of hammering!!!...I currently don't have access to oxy set up but this still should've popped by now.....

I do see the flywheel casing there is very thick. I would also consider using a jaw type puller there. I would still try an oxy set-up. the coleman torch just doesn't give it enough to to expand the unit. It needs to be red hot in order to make any real expansion. i've seen my uncle pulling similar units off of old cz's and maicos and they can be an absolute bitch even with the correct puller. only way to get some of them off was the oxy set-up.
