  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

A Class
Hi guy's.

Currently i am running my 09' TE450 on Motul 10W50.
In august we are doing a trip here in Australia of about 2500km, Cairns to Cape York and back. Mixed riding condition's, with daily tempertures between 26-30 degrees.
Which oil will be most appropriate, 10W50 or 10W40?

Regards,

Stiflers Mum

These are both 10WT oils that perform at 40 or 50 WT when at operating temps ... I'm not sure what cold temp 10WT is rated for but some one here will know ... Cold and hot temps are where the true synthetics out perform the dino stuff ... although just below freezing is not really that cold as compared to all places on the planet ...

SS filters allow oil to flow much easier than paper ones ... Cold oil flows slower but multi-grade oils of today probably make this a moot point unless much colder than what you will be experiencing ...

UPDATE: That 10WT rating may be at 0 degrees and if so, either oils should be OK ... I'm sure some one will have some more info on the subject ....

I wouldn't use a 10/40 due to the 40, I believe these engines need a higher viscosity at operating temps. The 10 is good for oil flow at cold start up, really a necessity when cold starting in the winter.

This is what I am led to believe as well. AFAIK Husky's are built to accept a 50 to 60 weight oil (at operating temperature).
