I have a 2010 SMR510 and the kickstand is way too short. The bike will lean so far over to the left on the stand that you barely have to bump it to get it to fall. I saw a post where people complain about the angle of the kickstand, about how it doesn't kick out to the side enough, and that causes it to sink into the dirt... that isn't my issue, being an SMR, and parked on pavement, my issue is just with the length of the arm.
I experimented by putting some different sized wood blocks under the kickstand to see what it would look like... and to get it to where it leans over a normal amount, the kickstand would have to be right at 2 inches longer than it is now. I was thinking one from a dirt bike (with 21/19 wheels) would be longer than my SMR (17" wheels) kickstand, and may be just what I need. My kickstand arm is cast aluminum and it measures 13-1/2" from the center of the pivot bolt to the bottom of the triangle foot.
Does anyone have experience with this? Could someone with a TE measure their kickstand so that I could see if it's a length that would work for me? Thanks for any help, Greg.
