• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My Trailer

Jersey Woods

I live to ride !
Back in the early 80's my dad bought this little single rail trailer that was made by Shore/Lander.. It was the perfect trailer for any size dirt bike.. It was light it was low to the ground and extremely easy to move around. It towed ok but it did tend to wag the dog at high speeds and it was a pain to back up because the tongue was very short. But this trailer really was a warrior it went everywhere..... I can't fathom the amount of miles it has seen... In 2006 my dad who was an ECEA legend in his own time passed away at 76... Believe it or not he was still riding up until a few months before he passed away of a sudden heart attack.. After he passed away my mom gave me his KTM 250F and this trailer.. I have a brother and one of my sisters that all ride so we shared the trailer as we needed it.. That worked out ok because I also had a utility trailer that I had built into a three rail trailer complete with gas can and gear holders. That was a pretty cool trailer but it was heavy to move around when it wasn't being used.. That led me to deciding one day that I wanted to build my own single rail trailer. I am a certified welder and have welded for the rail road I work for for a lot of years... At home I'm always making something out of steel... I had looked online for a lot of ideas when I was hatching my plan for this trailer I was gonna build.. I saw this crazy thing that came apart and could be stored in a duffel bag and shuddered at the thought of such a contraption.. I saw these Chinese versions of what my dad had bought way back when and thought they were to chinsy and poorly made... I finally decided to take the little trailer we had and build one that corrected the things I did not like about it... I widened the wheel base and built an axle assembly with a 5 lug hub assembly for stability. I also made the tongue long enough to back up easily.. I also put bigger tires on this thing for a smooth ride ... I drew a rough sketch and went on to build this thing... As I was building it I had to ad lib as I went along..For example when I bought the fenders I had to make brackets that I could hang them with.. That led to a few trial and errors..Once I was done I had to test this thing out.. I loaded up my bike and took it for a short ride.... I had a few kinks to work out but nothing major..To me it seemed pretty good and I used it locally... Then I took the thing for a long ride to South Jersey for an event last August that sealed the deal for me and I sold my three rail trailer to a kid who pestered me for it. I told my brother and sister they can keep the other trailer and they were pretty happy about that....I have an enclosed trailer if I need to move more then one bike or my ATVs...The pictures below are what I created from stuff that was made in America.. ... I spent more on some stuff like the hubs and the steel but I refused to buy stuff from China..

I even had decals made up from Vista Print that I put on the trailer that says Made In America..... When people I ride with see it in the woods they make the same comments about being made here... I tell them the reason for the decals are to remind people about buying American when the can..

I drove through Elkhart, Indiana yesterday and the trailer and RV business is still there. Not on the scale it once was, but it aint gone either.

Back in 1994 I was in Elkhart for training for the Rail Road and I could not get over how many RV dealers were there.....

I'll make a few of these trailers for some friends that I ride with, but I'm not into making a living doing it..

I work for Thule and we were in the trailer business for a while here in the US. I still have a couple. Nice light trailers with torsion bar axles.
