  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Need an expert here, what oil, how much and broken level screw :/

Husqvarna
A Class
Hi again

I drive a Husqvarna TE450 2004 model, and i have some questions about oil...
From what i understand the recommended oil is 10w-60, i changed oil a today and used 10w-40 from FUCHS Silikone fully synthetic, was that a bad choise?

This oil is very expensive so im looking for a cheaper oil that is good enough for my engine, what can you gurus recommend me?

Last, my oil level plug turned :( so i need to know EXATCLY how much oil my engine takes when chaning oil filter and oil ( I will change oilfilter everytime i change oil )

Hope an expert can fill me in here, thanks!

MM,
Read here and here for some really good info

Don't know the answer to your quantity question.
Have only used synthetic motor oils in my machines for decades.
Machines I operated professionally for years we're EXCLUSIVELY serviced with full synthetic lubricants.
I tend to favor oil weights favored by automotive engineers who designed whatever vehicles I have been responsible for servicing. Hope that helps a little

I have a 2007 TE450 with 11,000 miles on it. I have been using 20-50 weight petroleum base oil in my engine since it was new. My dealer recommended that I stay away from the synthetic because they said it would make the clutch slip. I change the oil every 500 miles, and the filter every 1,000 miles.

Not sure what you are talking about with the oil level screw problem. The oil level hole threads finally stripped out on my case cover, so I installed a thread insert and have never had any more problems with it since then.

Hi,

Tanks for your reply,

What brand of oil do you use?

We use Mobil1 0W40, it's about $4.53 a quart. Synthetic will not make your clutch slip, that is a myth.

Thank you,

Do you know the exact amount of oil i need when changing oil and filter? I stripped my case where the level screw is so i wont be using that anymore.

1.7 litres.

1.7 liters? i found a manual online and this is the info it gives!

It say 1,48 U.S Qt when chaning oil and filter!! 1,48 Qt = 1.4 liters.

Please explain why your telling me to put 2 much oil in my engine? 2dl to much oil in that engine is very bad.

You really need to get your gauge screw fixed.
Trying to use an exact fill amount won't work unless you have an established drain procedure. Depending on the exact angle of the bike when you drain, clean your screens and change your filter, the amount of drained oil will vary,
I tip my bike back and forth to get as much old oil out as possible.
Rotellla T6 synthetic 5-40 has been my oil for all my "modern" bikes with no clutch problems and can be had for around 20$/gal at Wallmart.

The Rotella oil is a series 4 diesel truck type oil and I believe is sold everywhere on this particular planet but not in many bike shops.
There has been a lot of discussion (thanks Tinken) regarding Mobil 1 Euro synthetic 0-50, that Ziptie racing has had very good results with and is economical to buy.
Do a little search here and your eyes will get tired.
