  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Need help reviving 2009 TE450

I need help organizing an approach.

The bike has sat for 4 years. New battery, new gas. Initially I could hear the fuel pump prime when trying to start. Now I don't. And right switch cluster doesn't work-flashers, horn, etc.

Rekluse with mod to disable clutch cutoff. No problem years ago.

Please assume I'm a mechanical idiot, my ego can take it. I just don't want to be pulling everything apart without some logic.

The horn and flashers are on the left. Right has the kill switch and estart button. Do they both not work or just one.

Instrument cluster come on when you turn the key?

Does it crank?

If nothing lights up or works check fuses under side panel.

If instruments are on and the bike cranks but doesn't start, check electrical and fuel hose connection from tank to TB.

May want to freshen up the oil too with it sitting so long.

How many miles on the bike? How long has it set up, not running?
The fuel pump may be varnished up badly, preventing it from turning/priming.
If you're not in a hurry, I'd pull the fuel pump and bench test it. And probably just order a new one because the varnish inside, when the bike gets hot, will stop the pump from working.

Hi guys, I'm at a loss with my 2009 TE450. When the bike is cold it starts and runs fine. It will tick over all day no worries. Once you jump on it and ride it, after 1-2 kms it just stops. Wait 5 mins and it starts again. I have changed to fuel pump, coil, spark plug, oils, etc. Everything that I can think of. Just wondering if anyone has come across the same problems.

When it stops, does it have spark? Pull the plug and see if it still has spark when it dies.

Were the symptoms exactly the same BEFORE and AFTER you replaced the fuel pump?

Check the intake manifold boot for cracks and leaks, spray some carb cleaner or brake cleaner on the boot while the bike is idling.

Hi mate, found the problem with the TE 450. It turned out to be a fuse. The fuse is fine to look at, but it failed when it got hot. Such a simple item that cost me a lot of money. It was only by chance I decided to change it as I read on here that the vibration might break the fuse. So all good now. Thanks
