  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Need help with '05 te 250

Hello all, big fan of the website. I've been digging around here over the past week and this site has been by far the most informational. I'm posting here asking for some help. I recently purchased a 2005 TC 250. It is in beautiful shape and was fairly cheap. The only issue is the original owner went to send the cylinder head off to get rebuilt and the head was lost in the mail. Now, since I've purchased the bike from the original owner I am trying to hunt down a cylinder head for it. I'm sure you all know this by now, but I'm having a very hard time finding a replacement head for it that is somewhat reasonably priced. So my questions are what's the best place to look for cylinder heads and what years will fit this bike. I've considered doing a 310 big bore kit on the bike, will a new 310 cylinder and head fit the older 250s? I am also entertaining the idea of putting a 450 motor in it if I can find it again a reasonable price. I guess ultimately what I'm getting at is what do you all feel my options are? I'm an old Yamaha guy so I am ignorant on the parts interchangeability and Husqvarnas overall. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you and look forward to talking to you guys more, James.

You can find the parts you need on EBay but your 05 valve train has larger diameter valve stems than the 04 and there were further changes made in 07 and later years. Rather than trying to piece together parts from various model years, it might be easier to look for a complete engine /cdi unit from any of the carbed model years, through 08.

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately, I'm not having much luck on eBay. I've found some 2010 and newer complete cylinder heads down in Australia but its a grand just for the head without cams. I've found some bare 04 heads on eBay but then I have to hunt down all the supporting components which add up quickly and I'm not a fan of the small diameter valve stems. I'm not afraid to spend the money, I just want to do it right. Does anybody know if new motors will bolt into the 05 frame? I can build exhaust etc in order to make it work.

Nice! Thank you for the input! I have been meaning to give Bill's a call, hopefully I can find some time today. Thanks again for your input! I'd still like to pick people's brains about parts interchangeability, has anybody generated a list or written an article on what parts fit from bike to bike? Thanks again, James
