  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Need Stolen Husky Rebuild help…

It’s kind of been on the back burner, but I figured now is a good time to finish it up and get it sold. Should make someone a good trail bike… Bike is a 2013 TXC250R.

When I first got it back I pieced it together enough to see if it would run; started on 6th kick. Let it idle about 10 seconds and shut it off. Checked the valve clearance changed the oil, or should I say tar…

I had the stock handlebars, stock exhaust, found a decent rear sub-frame, decent used tires, stock tubes, new rear fender and a couple of other bolt-on pieces I could replace. Pulled the WER reworked suspension and had it gone thru for use on the 2012 TXC250 we have also and put the ’12 suspension over on the ’13. I also fabbed up a sub-frame mounting bracket that was ripped off the frame.

Before welding the bracket on I unplugged everything I could and thought I took everything off I needed as a safety precaution. And right up front; I hate electrical problems; but now I have no spark! When I spin the engine the red ‘Dash’ light comes on and when I pulled the tank there was pressure when I did the elbow disconnect.

I had the chance to try a plug coil from a donor bike, but still no spark. I seemed to have no output from the stator…so, I found a parting out ’13 TE310, which has the same electronics and picked up the stator, rectifier and a kick starter that was missing. Bolted on the stator, nothing… bolted on rectifier, nothing… Went thru the usual - fuses, kill switch, disconnected, cleaned and reconnected all plugs I could find.

So… Any procedures I need to know more about that I may not be doing or am doing wrong? Is it possible that I may have ECU issues?

I’d rather change a hundred tires than deal with electrical issues!!! Anyway, any guidance would be greatly appreciated…

Go back to your ecu. Make sure that the wire clips are not pushed back ( out) from the actual connector. The one that plugs into ecu. Mine did that from factory and had no spark. The lil wires snap in and they can easily get pushed back.
It took us about 3 hours to figure that and even put all new parts on plus new ecu, still no spark.
