  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

oil leak

I have a 2010 txc 250 and oil is leaking out of the hole below the water pump housing. It just seeps out when engine is running..What is the problem? Thanks

I'm not exactly sure where that leak is at plus I have the older engine ... Can you take a pic of the leak and post it here ...I'm sure some one will have an idea ...

Id drain the coolant and remove the water pump housing. That should get you a better look at where the oil might be coming from. On the older engines it wasn't uncommon for oil to seep out of the bolt holes that hold the water pump housing on. Maybe you can see if this is happening to yours.

If its like the older bikes, there is an O-ring in there between the head and the water pump housing. pull it apart and inspect it/replace if needed.

EDIT, The newer bikes use a gasket between the head and W-pump housing, See below:

(In case someone else cares to know in another language.):D

I wonder why Husky moved to gaskets in this case..?? They used O-rings for cases like #'s 5 and 13 in the past without much issue to my knowledge. Do gaskets provide longer life maybe? Cheaper to produce?

dude that is probably engine assembly lube etc seeping from there. Your picture is clean, where is the material coming from the weep hole?

How many miles/hours are on your bike?

I have about 8 hrs on bike. The cam and spring was just replaced. That is when I noticed the oil leak. I replaced the water pump seal and gaskets, and still leaks out of the hole. I did'nt see any o-ring.. Cleyon

I had this happen and thought I'd post the culprit in case anybody else runs into it. It was a simple problem and self-created. For me, I had taken the cam cover off and didn't notice the sealing ring for the spark plug had fallen off. Oil was belching out of that weep hole below the water pump exactly as described above. I took the cover back off and found the ring sitting in the space between the cams. I put the sealing ring back where it was supposed to be and the problem was solved.
