• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Oils for 400xce?

Husqvarna
A Class
I have an 86 400 xce enduro and im wondering what type of oils i should be getting. I've only owned 2 stroke 250s before this so im not really sure. Should i just use 20W50 and 40:1 2 stroke for mixing? Thanks

I have an 84 wr 400 and I use motorex fully synthetic at 75:1 and in the gearbox I use ATF-F the ford borg warner auto fluid.

40 to 1 is a good all around ratio. just pick a good full synthetic and stick with it..ima fan of klotz techniplate myself

I use Briggs n Stratton engine oil [ SAE 30 ] in the gearbox as it's the closest thing to what the factory recommended and you can get it anywhere on earth.
I'me using LUCAS Semi-synthetic 2 cycle Land and Sea oil at 33/1 , seems to work fine and not too smokey and at 33/1 it's easy to remember the ratio's.
300ml to 10 ltrs :)

There has been many heated discussions on Oils as to what is best. I'm going to say that there is a lot of thought that Vintage Bikes need something different than Modern Bikes. 5 Years ago with my first Vintage Husky I fell into the same thought, and had one gas can for Vintage and one for Modern. (ok modern means 13 years old to me) Then one day I was watching the Video on Carlsbad 1980 when I noticed all the Bel-Ray adds and realized that Modern Synthetics have been around a long time. I used them in the Mid 70's. After all it was the Germans that developed them in WW II. My only recommendation would be to use Motorcycle Oil in Your Motorcycle. They really are developed for our use. Everybody has a Favorite brand, read what it sez on the Bottle.
