• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Opinions/Advice Needed - Black Plastic

Hi All,

This isn't about our Huskies, but I'm hoping y'all will offer advice anyway. :oldman: I have been refurbishing my KTM backup/dual sport bike due to the crank getting floppy. I've had the same plastics on it since I got it and they are looking a little rough. My two color options for the year model are black and stock orange. I picked up these graphics for cheap on Amazon, so I'll be sticking these on top of whatever I buy. The bike looks nearly just like this except I will be using a black oversized tank.

So does anybody have any experience with black plastics on a trail bike? The orange seems to hold up pretty well without looking thrashed. I'd like to get black just to change it up a bit, but don't really want to buy something if its going to look like crap after a few rides. Any experience, opinions or votes will be greatly appreciated. :D

keep it Kato orange and install the nice graphics package, all the black in the graphics package aren't going to work on a black background anyway, no?

I have to agree that they look great in white but between the two I'd say orange. I would get a Ferrari in red for the same reason I would get the KTM in orange. I would want everyone to see what I paid too much money for lol. Sorry, there had to be a KTM joke in there somewhere.

Just curious ... Did you even try to ask this question in a more appropriate place? lol ...pink or blue or orange or burnt black ...You make the call...

this is my 02exc250 with Ht racing 351 BB. (sold after my 09TE450 proved itself in the woods)
I like the black but YES black gets dull with use/ abuse trees-dust-mud. When its new I like it alot. You can use silicone spay to keep it lively. You can tell the headlight mask and fender are new in this pick whereas the side panels and rear fender are probably original.

Well this is my favorite site so I asked it here. Its my backup bike and I think a lot of us have another brand floating around the garage. And...I actually thought about blue...you can get it on motoplasticsus.com (but I had already bought the graphics. haha). :)

Thank you much. That is exactly the info I was looking for. This bike will probably get ridden a few times this fall and then traded in on a new TXC 310 in the spring, so i'll probably go with the orange so that it will hopefully stay nice looking during that time.

Mine has the HT 318 kit in it. I like the grunt of the motor with that big bore kit, but I have never found gearing that has worked for me.

Also, I like white the best also. I found a couple of sites where I could get it for this year model piecemeal (no kits), but white is just really difficult to keep nice in the Oklahoma red clay.

Use shout. No scrubbing or anything. just spray on and wash off. you can find it pretty cheap at wally mart or target.
