• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hi All

I require the crankshaft primary gear for 87 500XC. Has 37 teeth and partno 1616 029 01. Will likely be stamped 029 on gear.

Also required kickstarter gears. 83-86, and 87 later will also be welcome.

All help appreciated.

Thanx And, would really appreciate one of those 029 crank gears, would enable me to use the clutch now just hanging on the parts rack.

Th G/S, oi ve everybody wants it to convert to HPN. As for me its just the best dirt road cruiser in Africa. Use it once a year for a good trip and all smiles.

Why 37? if you want that part number it seems to me to end up with 39 by the parts sheet vs tech data sheet. The 39/70 is very common on early 430 and all xc 500 and some cr 500. Some (maybe most or all) of the cr 500 with less than six speeds have less teeth.

Added later,
It seems that part # is specific to that year. All mine have 885 on them and are 39 like I show in this clip from the tech data. The later ones are lightened up between the taper and the teeth.

Thanx Fran...k
In 87 Husky made the 500 XC with the particular 37t crank gear, which goes with matching big 6 bolt clutch and one piece 73t clutch basket stamped 028 and matching allu clutch cover. All of this i have with new plates etc.The 87 400XC may have had it too but i have no info to verify.
I only require the primary to use the whole setup on a LC build.

To be specific, this is the setup. Photo taken from the 86 50XC thread on restorations.
