• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Love the spiral trimmed junipers (guess)

That bike is squeaky clean looking

I am very fastidious with my bike.
It has over 1100 Kms of trail work on it, some of it pretty extreme rocky mountain work; awesome CTS in the rutted, steep mountain trails.

Looks like I am stuck with Husky's forever because, now, after experiencing CTS I am converted.
The spirals are my wifes work over a few years.

I like everything but the mid pipe guard, does not work for me stylistically. Sick bike. Still freaking LOVE mine after 2100 miles.

Hi Sam
Awesome looking 511.
I'm currently getting prices on a new 2011 te511. Some real good deals around.
The Husky dealer in Adelaide wants an extra $400 to "debung" the bike. The Melbourne dealers reckon they do that for nothing!
How have you found the dealer in Adelaide?
I'm down near Mt Gambier, so can go either go to Melbourne or Adelaide to buy one.
Cheers

LOVE IT!!! The only thing stopping me getting one is that no one make a bigger tank, out at the Isa here You need one

Mate,

My dealer was not really in the know at all about all this sort of stuff. I learned it all off cafe husky or asking the right questions to the Paul Feeney group technical department, who were excellent.

If you are half way, I would definitely go to Melbourne and stop off on the way home for a quick squirt around the Ottway Ranges or Pyrenees Ranges for a few hours to familiarise yourself with your machine.

I will send you some excellent info on some setups incl

The derestrict only intails fitting the Akropovic Muffler and fitting the crossover connector under the seat and it is all done. Leave the Lambda probe in as it is electronically bypassed with the crossover connector.

One thing I will tell you is that you MUST install a JD Jetting 6X Programmer for $215.00. The difference it makes is bordering on not being beleivable. Contact Kelly at Motorsportz and he will hook you up with it.

I have also found that on the TE511 the suspension only needs dialling and springs if you are heavy. I disagree with the people who feel the need for revalving. IMHO it is fine. Just dial it.

However, the chassis dynamics and the CTS is very sensitive to rear ride height. My recommendation is to have a fair bit more sag than you have been used to in the past. Believe me when I say that it is best with around 120-125 mm rider sag with all gear on. The CTS neutralises all squat under power.

I will come back to you soon.

Thanks for the quick reply Sam511,
I can't wait to get the new bike, I think I will probably go to Melbourne to purchase one, I just have to find out how I go about rego etc..
I'm flat out with work for the next month so bike will have to wait until early December.
The derestricting thing does not sound like that big of a job, the Adelaide dealer was definitely talking it up a bit.
Sounds like the JD jetting programmer is a must, I will definitely go down that path.
The info on setup etc will be greatly appreciated.

We do a fair amount of sand riding down this way, have you had yor bike in the sand?
If so how has the CTS handled it?

I was looking at the Berg 570 fairly hard, only down side is the price!
The Husky pricing IMHO seem to very hard to beat, for a bike with such quality components.

Cheers
Glenn

Wath kind of pegs you use ?

ROC STOMPA.

Machined out of HT alloy billet.

I had these on my previous TE450 and they fitted straight on perfectly.

Absolutely awesome platform.

Glen,

I have had the bike in deep sand and I have to say that there was not much difference the conventional setup I had with my previous TE450. Sand is a great equaliser.

But, in cross rutted, rough, steep rocky hill climbs that you would have in the Victorian High Country, the CTS is a revelation you have to experience to understand. The bike tracks so straight compared to other bikes, particularly the KTM's with no linkage rear ends that just seem to move around a lot more on these long climbs. I have had 520 EXC & 450 EXC's so I think I can speak with a little authority.
Just remember to set up with 120-125 mm rider sag with all gear on IMHO. Any less than that and the beautiful neutral handling will suffer.
