• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey Nice One!

I think that is Johans bike, set up by the Dutch Husky Importer of many many years, Ben Van Erp.

www.huskyben.com

I had the honor of meeting him and his son at the tech inspection in Lisbon. Great guys.

They had a ruff deal. Year of working on the bike only to have the last Dakar canceled the day before they where going to start.

If thats not Ben/Johans bike, my apologies.

Nothing gets my blood running like a pic of a Husky rally bike.

If Coffee ever gets a blog section going i will do a legthy ride report from the last Dakar Rally. :D

I see they welded up a metal "T" connector. George better get those "Y's"made up pretty soon or he'll be losing the european market.;)

Do it anyway. Post it anywhere. we want to see it.

Yeah, post it up. A new thread is a better place to post than a blog anyways.

Thanks guys. Thanks for the encouragement.

I am ready to write about it, mentally. But, it has to be a blog.

I tried writing stuff up on TT, it forever got hijacked, even trolled.

The Dakar rally was a very intense experience, far beyond just motorcycles and riding and all that.

Once Coffee has time, later this winter i am guessing, when there is a propper blog section, i will do a write up.

It was special,I remember starting my computer at 3.00am one morning to find you had problems after a crash getting parts,I am in Sydney OZ and most of the world was asleep
at that time but there was a flurry of emails from that dealer in Portugal to some bloke in Europe who woke someone else up in I think Switzerland all trying to get you going again, everyone had a suggesting as to how to fix the problem, gripping stuff, not to be forgotten and then the huge anticlimax when the wankers just pulled the plug on you,
definitely write it.

DA-kar, :applause:DA-kar, :applause:DA-kar:applause:….
The people want to hear the stories…
Give the people what they want!

Kidding mike, I’ll wait for your blog-->

(not sure about the hijack concept, my apologies if that’s what I’m doing next:excuseme:)
That’s an interesting fairing mask he got, works with the regular fuel tank, is that home made you think?

Just read your little snippet in the “what’s in your CD…”
And boy O’boy is that going to be good…
Can’t wait, I think it’ll be a good story

Well that was kind of the idea. I wanted to make sure I cold post and to see what it looked like so I picked one that was way old and kind of out of the way, if you will.
