• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Picking up new TE511

Shawntrain

Husqvarna
AA Class
Good evening,
I'm picking up my new TE511 this weekend (March 9, 2013) here in Alberta Canada, and just wondering if the off road only Akrapovic silencer is normally included with the purchase of the bike? Also, if the manufactured dated on the sticker on the head tube reads "05/12" is this model considered a 2012 or 2013?
Thanks,
Shawn

Don't know re the above, but let me wish you well and many happy miles on your new beast.

My 2012 TE511 came with the Akrapovic.
Don't know if the '13 does... would assume so.
My sticker says built in 10/2011 but is model year '12.
Again, I assume you have MY13.
I'm in Calgary, bought the bike at BowRidge in Cochrane.
Where in AB are you, Shawn?

Hi guys,
Thanks for that -
I'm in Canmore & buying at Bow Ridge as well:)
I'm really excited to get my new Husky.
PS ghte - I've spent time working at St Vincent's as a wards man, that was quite a few years ago now:) lots of interesting stories though:)

Darn, just found out the Akrapovic slip on program is no more:(
Oh well, still stoked:)

Got my 2012 TE 511 ( build 02/12 , MY 12 ) last year through Scott @ Rocher Sales.
Just at that time the Canadian importer was in receivership. No Canadian versions to be released.
Scott got a bike out of the US for me.
The Canadian bikes came with both exhausts at that time, however the American versions did not.
The Akrapovic would have been nice, however I heard it is fairly thin, and dents easily. ( no personal experience with these cans )
I put the FMF powercore on, Racemap II, and had TPS set, and no hiccups.
Great bike, maybe one of the last true 511's as you may already know these red and white Husqvarna's may have an orange tinge
soon . You will a great time this spring / summer. A true- off road runner, with street capabilites.
The only suggestion ( search the threads ), do not overfill with oil. 1 litre seems to work fine.
Check the site glass with the engine warm.
You are in for a treat ! :D

I put a fmf power core on my DRZ and I was surprised how good it sounds - helped performance a bit too:)
I will look around down south when I go for a spring break trip to Vegas/Moab.
I have a feeling the new prices will have a bit of an orange tint in the future as well 
Thanks for the info too:)

Awesome:) - if the first 22km are any indication, this summer is going to be FUN:)
Stalled once at the lights on Main Street Canmore, in front of everybody. Other than that, and the fact the temp was about 4 Celsius, it was a flawless first ride:)
