• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Plastic side frame guards?

Another new guy question. I'm looking for some black plastic frame guards for my 2008 WR250. I see where some guys are making their own. This should be a pretty common item or request... Any ideas?

I'm in the same boat....looking for frame guards for a 2009 WR250. Seems that Acerbis quit making them and that alot of people are making their own. I'm not opposed at all to making them, what's the most popular way to do so?

I am pretty picky how my stuff looks. Order the 09 Wr 125 Frame Guards. On the shifter side drill a hole on bottom right and then bottom left for a black zip ty. The top zip ty's anyway.

On the brake side one, the top Zip Ty's anyway. Use another one where it wraps around the rear of your brake caliper and zip ty it to your bolt/hose/banjo connection. Drill a hole down by swingarm axle bolt/nut hole and zip ty it to your brake spring bracket. You will have some nice good looking guards for $30.

Dartyppyt - Are the 09 125 guards a "dealer item" or can I find them on the web?
Thanks for the help - John

They are a dealer Item. Mine took 3 weeks to get. They are like $10-12 a side. In the mean time go to Autozone or Etc.... and get a roll of Plastic grip tape. Cut out how you want it to cover your frame and then apply and heat with a hair dryer or heat gun. It is good for several rides. I also use it higher up on the frames wear my legs rub the frame. It's like $10 a roll. Beats painting the frame. You can see where I add it above the frame protectors.

I like the grip tape idea, think I may look into doing that.

Parker - Where are you in Indiana? I grew up in Zionsville on the North side of Indy...

I'm from down around Brownstown, pretty close to Seymour...bout an hour south of Indy.

be careful which grit you get. i've seen the rough stuff shred boots and pants with just a few rides.

I use the stuff KTM uses but found it in a roll. Good stuff.

Go To Autozone, etc....... or go online.

It is made by Trim Brite that makes pinstriping etc......

Part # is T1501 (Safety Tread 2"x20' Roll).

I think it was like $10 a roll.

Lasts several races and doesn't effect your boots. When applying it you need to heat it up with hair dryer or heat gun so it flexes and molds to frame.

Good To Go!

good to know. a buddy used regular stair tread grip tape and well, he's replacing gear sooner than he should have had to.
