• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Plastic type (fenders & shrouds) ?

Anyone know the type of plastic used for the fenders and shrouds of the 610? I would like to know so that I can stock some plastic welding rod if these are repairable items.

TIA,

Y

That would be a good thing to know, see as how I might have to resort to fixing my cracked rear fender. That fender is backordered, so I can't get a new one.

I cracked one of the radiator shrouds on mine and took it to the local plastic repairers, who told me it was POLYPROPELENE and not repairable  If anyone finds out otherwise let us know

I am not sure if this will help much but a very talented welder friend of mine said to scrape some shavings off the plastic and light it with a lighter. If it burns completely turns to ash it is PVC, if it melts and turns waxy it is Polypropelene. He said that is how you tell what plastic rod to get.

Later,

The fenders have the triangle and PP, which I'm nearly certain is polypro. If it was US it would have the 5 inside the triangle but probably the Euro standard is the PP.

Thanks!

Polypropylene is actually repairable. You can use Plastex™ or some welding rod stock and do it.

well this was good timing.

Couple weeks ago, front end washed out on a loose corner and I put my 510 down (for the first time of course  )
Also cracked a radiator shroud. Nothing I tried held except a zip-tie at the top.......I'll have to give this a try.
