  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

pre filter (air)anyone make one for TE models

Husqvarna
AA Class
Does anyone know of a company that makes pre filter skins like the PC racing company skins for the Te models? The last few times I have been out it's been so dusty that the filter needs to be cleaned regardless of the distance ridden.I'm just trying to extend the service intervals on the filter cleaning ritual. Thanks

I have used The skins (same as the ones used on my ktm) they aren't highly specific you just pull them over to cover and they stretch. Honestly, can't tell the difference in fitment-

I also used PC racings FLO racing filter on my Ktm and used the extra filter covers on my Husky filter-

I am not suggesting that kim filters themselves fit husky's just that those prefilters aren't "perfect" fits to the point they don't transfer.

Thanks I wasn't sure about the PC Racing #1364 I grabbed at the local shop today and when I got home looked at the sizing on the back and saw that they were too small for the diameter of the filter.:doh:Well I didn't have my glasses with me and am close vision challanged.Looks like I need to get the QR #M819-90 and that should do the trick.:p

I'm using UNI filter off a newer YZ450F ... it consists of 2 filters, the outer looks a little course and the inner looks like standard foam ...

You have to punch holes in both filters so it will fit on the Husky mounting brackets; it fills up the air box pretty much when attached... And you have to use the rubber grommet for the center bolt off the Husky filter as these do not come with one .. after these 3 items, all is fine so far ..

All these numbers came off the box ...
Part Number NU-3230ST ... Suzuki / yamaha

YZ 125/250 1993-2009 / YZ 250F 2001 -2009
YZ 400F / 426F / 450F 1998 - 2009
WR 250F 2001 -2002

Why not use the Uni filter part number made for husqvarna models if you like Uni filters? They have them for the full line- just curious if its a supply thing where you are out of (necessity).
My understanding is UNI are a fine foam filter and a coarse filter that is not laminated together. So its the same as a twin air, moose, etc... except that is not laminated into one complete filter. The coarse filter is not an extra filter or separate prefilter but part of 1 filter in 2 pieces. I don't really see an advantage- unless you can change coarse filters like prefilters- maybe that's it? The Flow filter is like a twin air ect with fine and coarse laminated- and then comes with 2 additional prefilters. They do NOT make filter for the Husky. I have 2 twin airs and 2 Moose filters for mine- so I always have a clean one. Keeping an extra filter in a ziplock in the gearbag is a good way to go on long dusty weekends. I'll use a prefilter now and then though.

I'm in the Philippines and am not going to pay the shipping charges on an item unless absolutely necessary, so I buy local as much as possible and adapt ....

Not sure on the 2 part filter system but in the past all the filters I have used came apart at the seams so I am not a fan of gluing any of the parts together... I just clean and oil mine as 2 different filters and assembly one over the top ...

Not too dusty here now and I can tell that my inner foam filter is always very clean so far where in the past it always got much dirtier looking so am liking the UNI .... And I'm seeing everything from no filters to leg nylons to green scouring pads used without any oil on them for filtering ... No filter oil here either so I'm currently using motor oil on my filter ... and the bikes had the funky filters when I arrived 11 months and and they are still running this week ...

Yes, I figured as much... :) You do whatever it takes- and I don't blame you. SOunds like you have it figured for the best in your circumstances. I am still amazed by your situation. You are in a beautiful and interesting place. Adapt and overcome the challenges is part of it.

Darkside does this filter just go over top of the existing twinair?I mean the one that's installed in the bike now I would just pull the seat and slip it over the one in the air box? That would be the ticket,I'd rather use their design for their filter, and not pay $20 some odd dollars for what appears to be white stocking material.

Yes, it's basically a third coarse filter that slips over the other. When it gets dirty just take it off and the clean stock filter is still there. The only thing is that the stock twinair filter is larger than the Moose filter. When you put a third prefilter over it, it pretty much fills the airbox and makes it a challenge to get on and off.
