  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Race gas Anyone run it?

I have a 2010 TE 250 I have started using 50/50 split between pump and vp4.4 in my sons little TTR 90 for racing and it makes it run better. Anyone do anything like for a fuel injected 4-stroke?

Tried a bunch of race fuels.

Best performance for the $ is VP racing VPR fuel.

Starts better, performs, less flame outs and decel pops.

Plus doesn't gum stuff up like pump gas after month.

I gone up in octane but runs crappier.

VP110 is what I use and what works the best. I've remapped my son's yz450 with a map that takes advantage of the better fuel and got big gains in performance. I use AV100LL in a pinch which works almost as good and costs 1/2 as much. I also use VP110 or AV100LL in every 2 stroke I own including chainsaws and lawn equipment.

Unless you're running really high compression, or tons of timing (which probably won't help anyway), it's hard to beat pump 93, or even better, E85.

Try running more timing and fuel at low and mid-range (more snap and less flame out + more mid power) and retard the timing on top while leaning out the fuel. In this top end situation pump gas will detonate but with race fuel it will burn evenly and it literally feels like you hit the nitrous button.

Ethanol free for sure if you're carbed. I've run leaded ethanol free race gas (110-114) in a 4-1 mix) for my bikes.

I used to use VP, but if you get it in the can expect to shell out 13-18 dollars/gallon and you're buying a one time use can. I found Sunoco 110 and 115 leaded at a local ultra hipo race boat place for $10-11 gallon. I'm 50/50 Race and 100llAv in my 2 stroke racer and 1 gallon AV:4 gallon high octane pump gas plus Stabil to kill ethanol and octane booster to prevent detonation on my hot map on the 4 stroke.

My last trip to the airport got me AV for 3.85/gal which is only about 25 cents/gal more than our average super unleaded. And that's here in Commifornia!

Maybe it's a California thing because I can get VP110 for $7.50 per gal in CO and $8.25 in MO from a guy who seems to prefer not selling it. AV100LL is $3.98 in MO
