• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Race Tech Emulators vs YSS fork valves

Husqvarna
A Class
Has anybody installed either of these products in a 1981 CR430 ? and if so are they any good ( can you clearly notice the difference ?) At nearly 200 bucks I hope they make a differece.

Mike I dont know about YSS (Australia) But both branded systems appear to go in the same direction.
I have 1st person knowledge from guys that use the Race Tech emulators in their vintage and evolution bikes with great praise for the feel and adjustability (that's the best I can offer).
If in the USA probably best to go with Race Tech as they are quick phone call away for tech talk, if in Oz I would definatly consider the YSS brand for the same reason, also Rach Tech has licensed shops in Aus as well.
I do have hours of "stupid" time screwing around with damper rod hole sizes and oil viscosities on mid eighties damper rod forks, that always ended up being mediocre at best (I'm no suspension expert), I wish these things existed then!!

The latest Race Tech mod is a teflon bush that seals around the Emulator and dirrects all the oil flow through it.For the money there bloody good gadget.

Thanks Rob

Thanks Rob. I am based in South Africa and so both ways I have to import the parts. The local Racetech agent contacted me via USA enquiery, so I will go see them.
