• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Radiator overflow bottle

Hello all

Can anybody know if Husky ever put overflow bottles on the late '80s bikes? catch bottle 2a.jpg My 430 auto has one installed and it looks so neat and tidy that I thought it might be a factory fitting. It goes on the front down tube and is held on with a hose clamp.

ive seen quite a few one way or another, and my 88 250xc was a NOS bike...but i have never seen a bottle on one.
for what its worth, i have never had a swede boil on me. i think in order to do so you would have a mechanical issue or be pushing it hard in slow slow terrain. at least for a 2 stroke anyway..thumper is a different story

The 430 auto, at least the 1986 one has that bottle. I am pretty sure I have found it in the parts diagrams. Whether any other models in other parts of the world had the bottle I can not say. I am pretty sure the cap in the post 1 picture is different from the two I have.

My bike was brought over from Australia by the first owner and I acquired it in 1990. The bottle was on it then. The black cap on mine has 2 small poppet valves installed - one for each direction of flow. Any excessive overflow just dribbles down a groove cut across the threads.

Autos have bottles because the warm more than 6 speed, but only USA models.

Thanks RUF but I'm not an expert about Autos, only about pole vault, boomerangs and Islay whiskies ! LOL
I've bought a 430 AE 87-88 in France , but without bottle.
No marks on front tube of tied bottle.
