• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

We did split A (all A for me) and B loops for a total of about 65 miles for all riders both A &B, of the best of the best hardcore as well as softcore trails. It was a paid event to support Ramirez and Yorba for their trip the Spain for the 2016 ISDE they are Mexico Silver Vase team riders (Jr's under 23). We ate like kings and even got event tees for a measely 50 bucks + tickets costs for the raffle if you wanted to play--Klim jackets, signed jerseys, gloves, hats, googles etc. The location is an epic private rancho south of Tecate.

With the current conditions this was a very memorable trail ride. (plus I just installed 2 brand new tires and mousses!!!)
 
Silver Vase Rob? Not in the rule book anymore. Showing your age..... :oldman:

You do know the old Silver Vase, was for a National Team not mounted on machines manufactured in their home country. Trophy Teams had to be on motorcycles manufactured in the team's home country. US couldn't enter a Trophy Team until the Penton. Even though it was assembled in Austria, Penton USA was listed as the manufacturer.
 
additional-- the North East transplant crew was railing, I had got out ahead of the peloton when a huge group got all hung up in a relatively easy uphill boulder section, I went all hooligan and rode up over and around everyone, then put my head down and enjoyed the great traction with 2 brand new tires.
I finally caught up to the assigned trail leader then stopped for half a mo at a split and here comes the North easterner train- Andy(NY/ISDE vet) and Fred (CT/NETRA) bombing down the trail with another local guy on their tail, I jumped in and the other guy screwed me up a couple of times, got around him finally and I got back onto the train---but the train was on fire gapped me and left me at the station!! Those 2 were feeding off each other and just tearin' it up 350 4T style. great stuf,f so far this year its the best ride yet, 3 days of rain during the week just iced the cake!!
 
to me this hill was a not so tuff thing when I arrived the trail leader was caught up and and I parked my bike about where the fotos are taken from, while I was there I helped 2 guys get up then Ivan came through did a nice pivot turn and powered up the thing (the trail came from the right side and made a 90deg turn to face this spot. Ron is the guy in the fotos helping he was my relief, he was on the side when I went up. the 300 is the best thing ever for this stuff....I went up with zero fanfare or assistance...trust me it was about 85% bike 14% me 1% luck....100% all good but by then the NE crew was way long gone!! I saw them at lunch. Ron was riding Chilly's KTM250XCF test bike.
