• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Rattling Noise

The dealer just called and my 610 is done. Fortunately, they've located all the metal and when replacing the CAM chain had the missing BB's fall out from the chain without traveling anywhere else and doing damage. Both CAM Bearings were changed as a precaution, and the CAM Chain. They ran oil through it twice, flushed everything out and then closed it up.

I will be picking up on Friday. I've spoken to many people about this including other dealers, and they were all surprised that this happened. I'm hopeful that this is just a major outlier.

I wouldnt have settled for anything less than a brand new engine, if not a brand new bike. Its only done 800 miles. New bike or take action.

Too late now but next time.......

It appears that it wasn't too late to take action. The same identical thing occurred again after both cam bearings and cam chain were replaced. The 610 broke down again, and the suspected root cause was an issue of oil not lubricating the cam bearings.

The good news is Husqvarna has offered me several options. One of the four options were upgrading to a 630 which I'll be doing. The only thing I'll need to take care of is the difference in price between the 610 and 630. So I'll be getting a 630 in the next week.

I was impressed with the way Husqvarna handled the ordeal. I was especially impressed with how Fran at Bottone's handled the entire situation as well. Very professional through the whole ordeal, and certainly a rare situation for all of us. Anyway, I will be providing feedback on the 630 compared to the 610 with the 1,000 miles that I ended up putting on the 610 while I had it.

Nice. Enjoy your 630! I love mine. Watch the oil pump cover for leaks. So far, I seem to be the only one with this problem, but still.

I have the parts to fix it on hand and will tear into it later today. While I'm doing that, I'm going to pull the clutch cover and clean the internal oil screen.

Occasionally this happens to just about any manufacturer. What really matters is how they handle it. Husky treated you right.:applause:

Yeah, I agree. I kept hearing from the dealer as well as Husqvarna how rare this was, especially with the 610.

First 610 electric start with this I've ever heard of. I'm glad Husky is stepping up and I know Fran would do everything possible to remedy it. I helped relay this bike from Fox to Bottones, little did I know it was Satan's spawn! Good luck with the 630 and looking foward to your reports.

Hey Norm,

I received the picture from Fran when you transported the 610 from NY. Now I can't wait to pick up the 630. Fran said its ready today, but won't pick it up until next week as I'm away on vacation.

I appreciate you helping Fran transport the bike!
