  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Rear End Number Plate Set-Ups?

Just wondering how everyone has there number plate set up?
Am looking for a better set up for bush, that isn't likely to be broken or knocked about.

If you can share photos of your set ups it would be great!

Here's mine. The stock metal license plate holder self destructed in some whoops a long time back. I've also been through a few different blinker attempts, all of which blew apart until I got these.

EDS blinkers are the best I've found. I bought a TE for those lights, so I'm unreasonably committed to keeping them. The EDS blinkers work fine without the flasher relay. Find them here: http://www.extremedualsport.com/index.html I trimmed up the black fender extender to suit my taste and mounted the plate with a doggy door flap trimmed to size. Whoops all day and no longer any problems. I tend to crash some too, and all has held up well.

Did this set up just after buying mine in 2012.
I pulled out the tail lamp and mounted the original indicators through the lower guard section.
Haven't lost an indicator yet despite my best attempts :)

image.jpg Just cut off all of that low hanging plastic . Replace those blinkers with a set of front blinkers ( shorter ) . Screw in old license plate or piece of metal on fender and mount license plate on top of that

Acerbis rear tail light setup no blinker and the backer for the plate is a piece of automotive mudflap that I pop riveted first. The zip type is just a safety leash of shorts

I actually have a new plate now that is printed vertically, so shouldn't get hassled by the lawman for having it positioned this way.

DSCN6037.JPG I know its not the best photo but we all just get a sticker made up of exact size and colour of original plate and stick it on top of the rear guard

Also dont know what cops are like in NSW bush but in victoria no one wears indicators for riding in the bush and we get lots of attention from police but nobody gets even questioned about the lack of indicators.

WA is pretty hard on the old fender eliminators. I did the same as Dangermouse when I was riding on the street. Then I changed back to the big ugly stock fender so it had one plug making it a quick on/off job if I went bush.

Bike was too loud, the last thing I wanted was more attention from Mr Plod.

Kenny I know only last year the person who made the sticker Number plate was charged with numerous charges for making the copy number plate. Sux for us because I have not be able to find somebody else to do another.
