  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

rear sproket size te 450??

husky bom

Husqvarna
A Class
hi all has anyone run a 13/49 drive combo on there te 450 what are most of u runing stock is 13/47. i have run a 13/50 ...note only using in the bush/woods. my combo sounds to me as if it is reving its head of or is it just me:confused:

The only change I've tried is to go to a 12T on the front to keep the revs down on the road sections. It did do that but it didn't have as much snap as I wanted low down so in the end I've gone back to standard. Haven't needed to go any lower geared than that but I don't do a lot of really tight trails. Fitting the titanium exhaust and ECU has made it run so much better that I could probably get away with the 12T again now as it has better pull low down, so I might try that when I next change sprockets.

Running 13/49 I wouldn't expect it to be revving its head off unless you're talking about when you're riding at high speed? On that gearing I suspect I wouldn't want to do a steady speed much over 45 but it's hard to say without trying it.

I have been running the standard stock gearing on my 09 TE 450 and have found its pretty useful for the open fire trails but a little too tall for tight single trail. I just purchased a 50t rear talon sprocket from RnD Husky and a new chain and I love it. Bike feels alot more snappier through the gears. There is the obvious trade off with more short shifting throughh the gears and less top end speed but you shouldn't be revving the bikes head off if your riding to the conditions. Its as simple as you cannot have the top end speed you had with the stock gearing, if your expecting this then of coarse the bike will be revving high to try and get up there. Through the single trails and bush your 50t should be working great. I havn't compared top end speeds on my speedo as I don't really pay a huge amount of attention to it all unless im actually on a main road where the boys in blue are out!

am running a 13/50 now it is good in the tight stuff so i was just woundering what a13/49 might be like ps.. running a 13/49 gives me a 15mm shorter swing arm length as to 13/50 i know it is only 1 teeth on the rear so will this be better????????

I have stock for 09: 13/47 and that is good for all around, I have used a 12 cs: 12/47 for all day single track and it works great!

When I wear out my chain and sprockets I plan to run 14/50 and 13/50 in the same way. (just to get away from the 12 tooth cs). 49 rear would be very simular just a little more for higher speeds- may be the ticket as well but a fairly small differance.

just talked to the husky team thay said thay us 13/50 13/51 13/52 for there single track so maybe these sizes will be ok. will the engine get hot reving a bit higher when going slower in the tight stuff. may this is a trade off????????????

just a bit of info just been riding with my new sprocket setup well what a buzz am running 13/51 verry sharp... tighter rearend... better drive in tight stuff... down fall it takes a bit from the top end but i only ride fast s/t in the woods/bush

I have gone from standard, 13/47 to 13/51. Great for fast tracks. Top end still up around 140kmh. Now going to 13/53, to do single trail, hill riding. I did a 2 day ride on 13/51 and did not use much top end stuff. Most of the time in 3rd and 4th except on the hill climbs.

Im running 13/50 up here in Coffs Harbour and it was the best thing i did! great in single/tight stuff. You do ring it out a bit out in the open though. either way you are going to compromise on either speed or grunt. I took the bung out o the muffler and got a tonne of bottom end, took away top end, but the noise got to me over time.
