  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

rear suspension rebound grind

Mfallon

Husqvarna
B Class
2009 TE 510

any one incounter a rebound grind from the rear suspension. I have not investigated the linkage or shock yet, just wondering if someone has incountered this and can help pin point the problem (shock or linkage).

Oh how bizarre! Just yesterday while out on a ride, I leaned on the seat and as it came up, heard this strange noise. What the???

Can't figure out exactly where it's coming from, but sounds like a gurgling of the oil and/or nitrogen in the remote resevour (sp?) -like something has gone horribly wrong. Weird thing is, shock feels/rides fine...

might be the needle bearing in the linkage that the bottom shock clevis bolts to. it doesn't have a grease nipple and unless you repack it regularly that bearing can fail.
my TE lasted about 600 klms before i had the same worrying noise, when i pulled it apart there were only a few needle rollers and a lot of grinding paste (dirt and remnants of grease) left!
not expensive to fix but you have to pull the linkage and press a new bearing in, i _think_ i've seen a thread around of someone fitting a grease nipple but i couldn't find a bearing that would allow grease in so i just put it back the way it was, i grease it regularly now with no problems.

Rear shock noise

Hey Guys, the noise is nothing to worry about, The rebound needle is spring loaded and your hearing it flutter when you push on it. Goes away when you ride it. I had a $1200 TTX Ohlins on the back of my KTM and my Husky link Sachs setup blows it away, on my 310.

He said the check ball for rebound is fluttering/sticking. He put a little smaller check ball in there.Shock works perfect. No noise at all.He does great work.Real happy with him. Look him up. LTR suspension. When you call him,Les will anser the phone.

That's probably the thread on TT. It's in the 'recommended mods' sticky on the TT Husky forum.(no link at TT is in the middle of a site upgrade right now) You need to carefully cut a small hole in the outer bearing race to allow grease to enter the bearing. The mod works very well. In the same thread is a mod to fit grease fittings on the swingarm pivot. Works very well also.
These mods save a ton of time and money over the life of the bike.

I have got 08 txc 250 and hear that same sort of sqorking noise when rear suspension rebounds thought it was dry bearings but when I increase the rebound dampening clickers the noise goes out. This is how i isolated problem to be inside the shock. Shock still works fine, i think John47 is spot on. Would be good to know how to fix it ourselves though. How do you get the rebound dampener adjuster screw out, do you loose oil and gas. Another thing, with adjuster full backed off I have still got a fair bit of dampening going on, is this normal, would Huskyte310's mentioned smaller check ball also fix this.

cheers from Australia

Sounds like what i had. I removed the shock from bike and took the spring off. When i push down on the shock i still heard the noise on rebound. I knew it was in the shock. I didn't do the fix my self. I sent the shock to Les at ltr suspention. Les changed the oil and said he put a slightly smaller check ball in. The noise was gone, The shock works great.

The Sachs shock has a check valve, some tuners remove it because they tend to make the oil over heat...nothing more than a ball bearing and spring. If you hear it, good chance its time for new oil.
