  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

recommendations on proper way to unswamp a bike?

Husqvarna
B Class
Swamped bike and was wondering what has worked in the past for fellow Husky owners. Went thru and drained water out of pipe(stood bike on rear wheel and let it drain). Took air filter off and drained it, pulled plug and cycled piston thru for about 5 min. Bike started and drove it off trail. Drained oil and its milky white. What do you recommed for a new bike?

That sucks..cycle oil changes probably 4-6 untill oil no longer turns milky ASAP. run it just log enough to get your oil flowing then shut it down and drain, change your filter on the last change. also I would drain all your gas out considering how deep you were. Good luck!

What do you recommed for a new bike?

Not riding blindly into deep water holes:D

Seriously though, it happens. Do pretty much what you did, but given that that water is pretty dirty, you're probably going to need to give the airboot a good cleaning and the carb/injector. Check to see the filter isn't clogged with crap.
Just buy a bunch of the cheapest oil you can find, fill crankcase with proper amount, run it for a couple minutes up and down the street to make sure it's well circulated thru the motor/trans, then dump it. Repeat several times as mentioned above until no more milk is coming out. On the last change put your good oil back in with a new filter.

Well, did 2 oil changes on bike, riding it and getting it up to operating temp and the oil looks pretty good. I'm going to change oil 2 more times just to make sure. Thanks for the help.

I'd follow the recommendations mentioned above. However do NOT run the engine at high rpm. Keep it as low as possible during the short runs between changes. How far did you have to run it from the dunking back to where ever you started?

Make sure your air cleaner is thoroughly cleaned and re-oiled which I'm sure you know.

That almost looks like the same situation I had a few times. One happened during the first dirt experience I gave my bike also on a 4wheeler trail as ice was just melting. Where was that?

Fast1, we rode maybe half mile on pavement before draining the oil. Was in south eastern wi on some private land a friend owns.

dunked my TC250 twice :D i did as the others mention, get water out of airbox/boot/filter/motor then multiple oil changes w/cheap oil until the milkshake is gone but i also used Seafoam with each change/run. TC has been happy for many rides/seasons after.

good luck!

it will be fine, clean it out best you can and you will have no trouble, check the valve cover and breather hose they may have some sludge sticking around.
I was so worried the first time my bike went under, never caused another problem.
