  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Rekluse strange sound

AA Class
I have a Husky 310 2014. Just installed an almost new Rekluse clutch. I bought it from a friend and he bought it new aprox 10 hours ago. He sold it because of an injury following a sold bike.

The clutch shows NO signs of wear. I have installed it exsactly after Rekluse advices. All bolts with right torques, 3mm on the clutch lever. The clutch works 100% as it is supposed to. No to my worries.

If I pull the trottle hard it sounds as it should, but if I just go away in a calm mode it rassles like something is loose? I have had everything apart again to see if something had gone loose after my 30 min test run. Everything was perfect. I then put the original clutch back and no sound at all. Worked as it has always done, perfect. Then put the Rekluse back again, same noise and it scares me like hell.

I have checked your youtube films. Both hydraulic and wire installations. The only thing that differs from the Husky and them is that the outher clutch plate is covered almost 75% by the basket. Meaning that the basket goes over the mid part on the Rekluse plate and gives support to both halfes. On mine the basket is only supporting less than 50%, meaning that the upper half of the plate has no support from the basket? If I take 1/7 friction plates away and only use 6 it looks as it should, but I cant imagine that is right?

The directions should tell you how many steel plates and fibers you should use.

I know with mine I did have some chatter but it didn't hurt anything so I just left it alone.

Something not assembled correct. Mine purrs like kitten and no noise.
There are rubber pucks in clutch. See if they are going bad? Zipty has news ones to dampen your clutch.
That could be your issue.

The rekluse directions for the Italian husky is wacked. I called them when I did mine and asked them to update the directions so future owners didn't have problems. Call them directly, that's the only way to get it right. My 2012 was quiet as well but my oem clutch basket was notched so I bought the rekluse basket. How many miles are on your basket?

My Core EXP 2.0 rekluse is apart now so I know just enough to be dangerous :) ... There are 4-5 very small 0rings that fit on the very last plate that I was reading keep the sound down .... Do you have them in there?

Probably not your issue .... Some of these devices make a few noises I think ... maybe you can make a video of the sound?

You are not using the lever when the noise happens? Does it make noise when the lever is used?

What Rekluse do you have?

Its an EXP 3.0. Read in the manual that some models leave 1 or 2 OEM friction plates. How about the xlite engine? Do you use all 7 or?

When got mine, the retaining washer was no issue. So they must have corrected it.
If those rubber pucks go bad. Clutch chatters.
